2016-05-29 18.03.39If there’s one occasion EVERY kid celebrates, it’s their birthday! As a mom, you know it’sthe one day they wait for, and count down to, all year long. For that reason, Toys“R”Us is reimagining and reinventing how they engage their customers.

As many of you may know (or not), Will turned 9 last week! That's why I knew I had to share about the recently updatedGeoffrey’s Birthday Club– which lets parents register their children's birthdays and receive special birthday-month offers.

Side note: Okay, so here is my birthday tip to you all. Will has reached the age that I don't know what the kid wants for his birthday anymore. What we have done is that 3 weeks before his birthday, we take him to Toys“R”Us, and we walk the entire store. He knows what the purpose is — we are making his birthday list. You can take a notebook with you (I took notes on my phone). I wrote down everything he mentioned he wanted. I then was able to take the list of the things he really wants and send them to our family members who were asking for a list. It made shopping easier for them, and I wasn't sitting here clueless of what to tell them.

So what has changed? As part of the program’s refresh, they’ve created a children's book about Brand Ambassador Geoffrey the Giraffe titled, “The Legend of Geoffrey.” The book tells the story of how Geoffrey arrived at Toys“R”Us, how he got his stars and why he loves birthdays so much. There also will be monthly in-store birthday events nationwide, allowing kids to experience the magic of the book and their birthday at their local Toys“R”Us store. The next event is taking place onSaturday, June 18from3-4pm. During this event and all those following, Geoffrey’s Birthday Club members who are celebrating a birthday on/around the day will have the opportunity to participate in story time with Geoffrey and receive a complimentary “The Legend of Geoffrey” book, crown, balloon and Geoffrey plush, PLUS dance to Geoffrey’s brand-new birthday song in a conga line around the store. Geoffrey’s Birthday Club members will also continue to receive a personalized birthday card, a phone call from Geoffrey and a special gift. How cool right?
