I live in Chicago. I have a city yard. However, I want my family to eat well. Up until now, I didn't think that we could have a garden. However, after reading Urban Gardening For Dummies (aff), I can't wait till spring!
Urban Gardening For Dummies helps you make the most of limited space through the use of proven small-space gardening techniques that allow gardeners to maximize yield while minimizing space. It covers square-foot gardening and vertical and layered gardening, guidance on working with container gardening, succession gardening, and companion gardening, and guidance on pest management, irrigation and rain barrels, and small-space composting. It covers everything: soil. fertilizing, roof top gardening, vertical gardening, apartment gardens, watering, controlling pests, tools and ways to encourage children to garden.
I love that it is an easily understood book. I never felt stupid reading it. I have some great tips for once spring hits Chicago!
Sounds like a great book!
This is PERFECT for me!
Sounds like a great book.
Thanks for the wonderful review on my book Lisa!
Great attitude Lisa, you should never feel restricted by the space that you have, just learn to work within it. There are lots of options for small outdoor spaces or even indoor spaces, be they sunny or even not so much! The trick is to have the right attitude and to recognise that if you try a particular plant and it doesn’t survive, it doesn’t make you a failure. It’s all a learning curve
