The Willis Tower & The Skydeck

disclosure

I'll be honest – just because I live in Chicago doesn't mean I've experienced all it has to offer. However, we took it upon ourselves to be a tourist in our city, and we went to check out The Willis Tower & The Skydeck at the end of April. The Skydeckis the perfect family-friendly adventure, 1,353 ft off the ground. On a clear day, The Skydeck presents incredible views of Chicago, with views reaching as far as Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. However, even on a cloudy day, the view is still breathtaking as you will see.

The Ledge’s 4 glass boxes extend 4.3 (aff) feet outside the Tower, 1,353 feet above Wacker Drive, with glass on the ceiling, floor and sides, offering a truly an unforgettable experience.

Will loved finding all the buildings from up there. 2016-04-30 12.52.14

We had amazing time. Bill and I had never done this before, and we will definitely be taking the kids back. It is a must stop in Chicago!

  1. The view is spectacular I will give you that but, just looking at the photos of the glass bottom and my legs get all weak in the knees and my tummy turns in knots. I hate being scared of heights but it looks like your kids have no fear at all!

  2. I showed my husband the pictures in this post and all he said was, “Oh no, Oh no no no.” We share the same fear of heights. The view is awesome, though. I just would not want to get that high off the ground. Your kids are really brave!

  3. That looks like so much fun! It’s really odd. I would love to go up and experience the Skydeck, but you will NEVER get me on a roller coaster.

  4. How awesome! What a great view that is! I have only passed through Chicago. Never stopped long enough to enjoy it. One of these days I will!

Hello there, fellow Chicagoan! Not gonna lie, I’m slightly disappointed that you refer to it as the Willis Tower…I absolutely refuse! Ha ha. Glad to see you spotlight our city in such a wonderful way! See you around town.

  6. My sister was there last year and she did visit the Willis Tower Skydeck. The view, even on a cloudy day is amazing. I would love to experience this someday.

It sounds like you all had a fantastic time indeed at the Willis Tower & The Skydeck. It would be interesting to see even if I am afraid heights. If you can do it I can do it. Thanks for sharing the fun family experience.

We went out to the Willis Tower right before they changed the name. We lived in a suburb of Chicago for 10 years before visiting. It was a lot of fumn!

My husband and I went on a mini vacation to Chicago last year on probably the coldest week all year! We had so much fun but would love to come back and explore more with nicer weather to catch more of millenia Mile and the tourestspots!
