We are all busy. I totally get it. I am too. As a work-at-home (aff) mom, I am always looking for ways to make my day just a little easier. I've compiled a short list of things you too can do to make more time in your day:

  1. I don't fold socks. They just go into the sock drawer to be paired when you want to wear them! Since my kids are only allowed white socks to school anyway, I save a bunch of time and they can easily just grab what they need in the morning.
  2. When traveling, I don't iron clothes. I just put it in the bathroom and turn the shower on hot. The steam will get rid of the wrinkles.
  3. On that same note, I have been known to throw a wet washcloth into the dryer, so I didn't have to iron something that was already dry.
  4. Wipe down your stove immediately after making something. Everything will wipe off ten times easier than if you wait.
  5. If you put a wet rag in the microwave (aff) for 20 seconds, everything in the microwave (aff) will wipe off just as easily.
  6. Also when traveling, roll your clothes. More will fit in your suitcase if you do.
  7. Another traveling hack with kids is to pack a garbage bag. All the dirty clothes go into it, so when you get home (aff), you know what to wash. Nothing is worse than getting back from vacation and realizing you don't know what is dirty and what is clean. Plus, it is really easy to get all the laundry to the washing machine in one trip!
  8. Mott’s® Snack & Go makes an easy snack to throw in your purse for your kids to eat as a snack. They are a great source of Vitamin C and worked really great this last week on the go for soccer at my house!
  9. When going out with your kids to an amusement park or really anywhere there will be a lot of people, take a snapshot. Now, if anybody gets lost or goes missing, you know what they were wearing.
  10. I also try to dress my kids in bright clothes. I can always see them in a crowd if they happen to get away from me. (This won't be possible as they get older I know).

There are some many mom tricks we can share with one another. Here are a few from Mott’s®.

What tricks do you do to make your life a little easier?

HAHA I always dress mine in bright clothes too! I am soo outnumbered so with bright clothes I can spot them right away!

  2. R U S S

Lol on the socks! It probably won’t work for me because I love printed and colored socks, which I wear during workouts ( weird, I know ). Tip #4 is my favorite. While it does sound simple, it’s always forgotten so yeah, best to clean that stove immediately after all the work because it is the most logical and practical thing to do.

  3. Alli

I always roll my cloths and pack a trash bag when traveling. Now, if I could just get the kids to cover whatever they are microwaving so it won’t splatter everywhere I’d be set! Great tips, by the way!

  4. Terry

LOL, I always mate and fold my socks. It just makes it easier for me. I guess if you only have one color of sock though, it would work out great.

  5. Dawn

These are awesome ideas! I’m never folding socks again!

  6. Jennifer

I’m not a mom, but these shortcuts are still pretty awesome. I hate folding socks AND ironing with an equal intensity. Thanks!

  7. Pam Rote

I’ve done that sock thing for a while now-and the stove- I like some of the other tips. I’ll have to give them a try!

  8. Rosey

What a cool tip to run the steam shower in the hotel to get rid of wrinkles. I iron when I travel, but next time I’m trying this instead.

  9. Socks… Why did it have to be socks. I just roll those suckers. I don’t have time for folding five million pairs of socks.

  10. I love a good short cut. I don’t even iron at all if that is considered one lol

  11. Jessica Harlow

These are all great tips to making those less-than-fun chores easier! These are the kind of “hacks” that really help!

  12. AnitaB

Those are actually some really great and common sense tips! I laughed at the dressing kids in bright clothes tip. Now that they are teens they all look alike at a distance. 🙂

  13. Olivia Schwab

These are great tips not just for moms but for anyone! I could for sure use these tips throughout my day. Great advice!

  14. AJ @ NutriFitMama

I love dressing my kids in bright clothes as well. It’s good to always be able to notice them, especially when we are in a crowded place!

  15. Rhonda

Traveling moms must think alike. You’ve shared some of my best tips! I swear by rolling while packing, you can fit more and the clothes don’t wrinkle as much. Love the white socks trick though, I’m stealing that one. Thanks for sharing.

  16. Raijean

My son is obsessed with Motts products. I swear I feel like I give them all of my money.

  17. Dee Mauser

I love your list of tips. We already roll our clothes when we travel. It makes it SO much easier to fit more in the suitcase.

  18. Milena

I try to get all my kids snacks ready for the week. So, I can just grab and toss right into the lunch box!

  19. Alena Belleque

I use a couple of these myself. I also like to save time by using a “car bag” – it lives in the back seat, and is stocked with stuff we use on the road, so I have to remember and haul less.

  20. Karla Campos

I love anything that makes life easier, thank you for the tips. I often travel and will try rolling clothes. I don’t like ironing, will take your advice as a blessing : )

  21. Kristen

Squeezable applesauce is a staple in our house. I never leave home without it.

  22. Chubskulit Rose

These are some great tips and having to kids of my own, I do most of these too except the number 5 so thank you. I will definitely put wet rug in a microwave to ease the cleaning.

  23. Jamie

I do several of the things you listed! I have been known to throw something away if it was going to be too big a pain to clean….yeah…that is me! 🙂

  24. Moms get really busy and I would not be ashamed by any of the short cuts. We love motts pouches too.

  25. Tiffany Cutcliff

I totally roll my clothes and it is the best thing I have ever done! I never have wrinkly pants anymore! Great post!

  26. These are all great tips! I wish I could get my family to wear one type of sock so I didn’t have to match them but they all like different colors and styles.

  27. Amber Edwards

My mom trick is that I make my kids do their own laundry. That helps a lot. I also never iron either! So much eaiser to just steam the clothes.

  28. Liz Mays

These are really cool shortcuts. I didn’t know about the wet rag trick! I need to pass that on the my kids.

  29. Lorane

These are great Hacks .. I didn’t know about the Wet Rag in the Microwave Trick. I know about the Garbage Bag .. It saves soo much. All you have to do is toss the wet or dirty clothes into the llaundry

  30. I’m all about cleaning as I go, it sure helps save time vs scrubbing. Also, I’ve given up on the kids socks, they wear mis-matched pairs on purpose anyway!

  31. Cassie

I have never thought about using the hot shower trick for “ironing” clothes! Though I do employ that sock method with my sock drawer, lol

  32. Debbie Denny

Awesome list.Wiping stove down when done is great.

  33. Lisa Bristol

I never fold socks. My kids only like black socks so it is easy. I do many of the things you listed.

  34. Ann Bacciaglia

These are great tips. I never iron my clothes when i am travelling. Rolling your clothes works great.

  35. Amy Desrosiers

I agree with packing a trash bag while traveling. A mom hack that I do is wash the dishes as I cook. I loathe piles of of dishes in the sink.

  36. Digna

LOL, so many of these are right on. Absolutely, just toss those socks in a drawer. And I can’t tell you the last time I ironed something.

  37. These are great tips. I use many of them since I already raised my girls. We are from Mott’s County and love their prooducts 🙂

  38. Diana Villa

Wonderful post! My favorite one is #6 😀 thanks for sharing 😀

  39. I love the photo snap shot before heading to the park, mall, or amusement park so that you have a current picture of the kids. Plus, you can easily describe what they are wearing too.

  40. Emerald Lavender

Thanks for these helpful tips! When you’re on a family trip, you need all the help you can get. 🙂

  41. Melissa Vera

I love these tips. The one about the microwave I didn’t know.

  42. Shauna

I have done that wet wash cloth in the dryer to redry, too. Ha! Makes my life much easier.

  43. Robin (Masshole Mommy)

I think I need to study your shortcuts for myself. It seems I never have enough time to catch up everything. If I used some of these shortcuts, it would certainly speed me up!

  44. I like the socks idea myself. I can’t say that I have ever thought of it, but that makes some logical sense!

  45. Dawn McAlexander

I roll my clothes up when I go on vacation, too! It really saves time, creates more space and keeps your clothes fairly wrinkle free if you fold them correctly.

  46. Your #10 is what I do! Since I have 5 when we go to the park I try to dress them in the same color shirt so it is easier for me to watch them all

  47. Allie D.

Love your shortcuts. I have used the same tips for traveling, although I should use a garbage bag for the dirty laundry. I’ve always used grocery bags. I also make my daughter wear bright clothes too, because she like letting go of my hand and running to join her cousins wherever they go.

  48. Robin (Masshole Mommy)

These are some great life hacks! I will have to keep these in mind.

  49. Jenny Temcio

I also don’t fold up my socks. Often times I find myself wearing two different pairs of socks LOL!

  50. jEANINE

Yep! I do most of this already! Really great short cuts. I wish I knew most of these long ago!

  51. Nancy

Omg I love the shortcuts! Don’t fold/flip in socks. Also YES to rolling clothes in suitcases – totally saves space, I’ve been doing it for years!

  52. Carol Bryant

I love apple sauce and I also iron my hair and go out with a wrinkled shirt lol

  53. Alison

I could totally get behind not pairing and folding socks – I swear that is one of the chores I hate most. I would totally rather just buy new socks! Seriously…

  54. Kristin

What a great tip to pack a separate bag for the dirty clothes!

  55. Lissa

Those are some great parenting tips. I don’t think I do very many of them. The only one I do is wash the dishes right after meals because the longer you wait, the food will become crusty on the dish. It’s easier just to wash it right away. The other idea I really liked is rolling your clothes when packing for a vacation. I always fold mine, and I think it might be a better idea to roll the clothes. Thank you for your post.

  56. Lauren

I love these mom hacks!! I really need to try the tip where you throw a wet washcloth in the dryer. It sounds like a great idea!

  57. Courtney

These are fantastic tips! I love anything that makes life a little easier!

  58. Lena

Love it. This are my kids favorite and they are mess free

  59. Lena

Good to know. Where would we be without the shortcuts

  60. Ronni

    Great tips!
My OCD doesn’t let me slide on not pairing socks, I totally wish it would LOL
I have been known to toss a washcloth in the dryer to cut out the ironing though.

  61. Elizabeth O.

LOL! I put one sock halfway inside the other. Garbage bag trick works well too.

  62. Fi Ní Neachtáin

Those are great life hacks! I need to try that wet rag trick in the microwave, would be far easier to clean it.

  63. Wow, I must say I never knew about most of these tricks especially number 2. I’m definitely going to test this theory out. Thanks for a great post, I’ve learnt some new tricks. 😉

  64. Bismah

These are really great time saving tips. I always try to wipe down the stove while I am cooking or immediately after I finish however sometimes I do forget. I wish I would never forget that as it adds so much time to cleaning it up afterward.

  65. Throwing a wet washcloth into the dryer to avoid ironing is one of my absolute favorite short cuts! My fiance is a guitar instructor and needs to produce high quality videos. The amount of times he has come to me saying, “Help! I’m recording and need this shirt ironed in 5 minutes.” Right into the dryer it goes!

  66. Rebel Sweetheart

My Mum taught me early on in life about this trick of rolling clothes. 🙂

  67. Erinn S

I agree with the stove tip! Hate when older kids cook and later on it is caked on!

  68. ourfamilyworld

Those are great tips. Working moms need all the help they need to juggle with everything

  69. Megan

Great tips, especially the one about hanging your clothes up in the bathroom when showering so you don’t have to iron! I do that even when not traveling!

  70. Censie Sawyer

My trick – lay out all clothes the night before! Less running aroudn in the morning!

  71. Lexie Lane

Great tips! I do a lot of the same. I don’t iron either. I usually just make sure to grab what I can from the dryer immediately and when traveling you can also pack it a certain way so your clothes don’t come out wrinkled too. My husband irons his work clothes and packs them in his suitcase. They come out perfect.

  72. HilLesha

I hate ironing anyways! Therefore, I love the steam shower idea. Thanks for the wonderful tips!

  73. Lynndee

I surely never thought of number nine. 🙂 I always love taking pictures whenever we’re somewhere but not for that reason. That’s a brilliant idea. Thanks. 🙂

  74. These are excellent tips! I also refuse to fold socks since it just seems like a waste of time to me. I just put them into a neat and flat pile. Since they’re all one color it works out. Thanks for all the tips!

  75. Krystal

I totally don’t fold socks either. I feel like it’s such a waste!

  76. Manu Kalia

Number two is my favorite, I really didn’t know that. Thank you for the tips and advice.

  77. Erin

These are awesome tips! I use many of these to help myself out but I’m definitely going to be sharing this with my mommy friends!
