Did you know that February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day? I love that in the middle of winter (especially here in Chicago since we keep getting more and more snow) that we can warm each others hearts. The best part of doing Random Acts Of Kindness is that you are making another person’s day. I know that I love reading on Facebook about how others have helped my friends. The things you do don’t have to be overly elaborate either.
If you are a not sure what you can do on this day, I have made a list for you that you can check out on the Tampico website!
How will you be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Day? What will you be doing?
Since it was 2 weeks ago, I totally missed the boat….LOL. I try to be nice every day, though.
Sorry I missed it but I would love to do something each month to get the kids used to giving back. Thanks for the reminder.
I actually didn’t miss this & bought a ladies meal at the drive up line! :0
I’m with Robin on this one – I missed the boat too…. Maybe next year I’ll do a random act of kindness 😉
These are great ideas. I missed the boat just like Robin, but I don’t see why I can’t do things like this anytime. Thanks!
Me too! I wish I knew about this day. I hate missing out on things like this – awesome idea!
I try to do a RAK every day if I can. This weekend I paid for the guy behind me in line at ChickFilA. I think that is my favorite one. 🙂
That’s great to know. I would let my husband know about this because his birthday falls on the day!
I seriously thought Tampico was a Jamaican Brand. Great Post .. I had no idea February 17 was Random Acts of Kindness Day.
I really think we should make every day Random Acts of Kindness day. The world would be a much better place.
I think we should extend this day to the entire year. It doesn’t take much to make someone’s day, but if we all did it, we could change the world.
I try to do make everyday a random act of kindness day if I can. I just think it feels good to make others feel good.
I totally missed it this year! However, I usually do a random act of kindness everyday so I probably did it without knowing!
If we all performed random acts of kindness throughout the day, not just one day a year, the world would be a nicer place. Having a special day for it is sure to bring awareness though!
I had never even heard of this day before. It sound be everyday though. I wish I knew about it!
I love people being nice to others just because. I also love the pay it forward concept, and that you made a cool list!
I once received a free cup of coffee from the generosity of a stranger in the drive thru. It absolutely made my day. I remember that feeling & try to pay it forward.
I love the sentiment behind Random Acts of Kindness Day! I try to be thoughtul and considerate of others everyday…even in little ways…like paying for the person’s coffee in line behind me!
I made my Dad dinner and let everyone pass me in the line at the grocery store. I wasn’t in a hurry, so maybe they were. lol
I like to think that every day is the perfect day for a random act of kindness. It can be helping someone with their grocery bags, surprising a neighbor with fresh bakes cookies or stopping by a convalescent home to visit someone in need.. even greeting someone with a smile and wishing them a fabulous day! You’d be surprised how often I see someone’s face light up just because I took the time to acknowledge them 🙂
Oh I love the idea of random acts of kindness. I will totally be checking out your list. Thanks for sharing.
I try to be kind always, it goes such a long way. Thanks for the reminder.
I completely dropped the ball on this day. I guess it doesn’t really matter since we should be practicing these things every day.
Love this! I try to be nice every single day… makes up for those few that I miss 😉
I try to teach my kids to be nice and show kindness everyday so that they are just good rounded people but I have always loved the fact that there is a devoted day to kindness.
Well I missed that boat for sure. However I feel everyday can be Random acts of kindness day.
I didn’t know they had a random act of kindness day. I try to be nice and help others each and every day.
I think we should show an act of kindness as much as possible; but this is such a great day to celebrate it!
Oh I should have done something special. This is a good reminder to try to do something nice for people every day though!
I wish I had known about this earlier! Marking my calendar for next year.
This post is full of great ideas! I love all of them. Our school did a “Great Kindness Challenge” the week of February 17 and it was incredible! 🙂
Every day should be random acts of kindness day. Such a great message to spread!
I try to do random acts of kindness every day. It is important to me to teach my kids about this.
Aw, what a great day! People should try doing RAOK all the time!
Random acts of kindness came be performed any day. I think they need to be done on a daily basis if possible.
I Think I’m the only person to ever NOT have a drive thru acts of kindness thing happen…. Which is surprising with the amount of travel I use to do lol
You know, I don’t think I did anything for RAOK day … I might have to make it up tomorrow. Maybe I’ll make cookies for dessert! 🙂
No – I did not know that February 17th was Random Acts of Kindness Day – but loved that you told me now! And, I need to have it on my calendar to do something extra special for special people! (everyone, of course!)
I did not know there was a day to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness. I think it is important to do things to make others happy. Being kind is an important lesson to teach our kids.
I had no idea there was a random acts of kindness day! This is something I try to do every day but I’ll have to make sure to do something extra special on the “holiday” next year.
I had no idea it was random acts of kindness day. It must have been overshadowed by Valentines day. I once gave money to cover the groceries of the lady behind me at the grocery store. I’m all for that and any kind of charity work or things I can teach my kids about random acts of kindness.
I always love paying it forward! Even a small act of kindness can makes someone’s day!
In celebration, I would love to pay for someone’s meal, or donate. It’s always great to help others whenever you can.
I love Tampico! Also, these cookies look delicious!
I always bake cookies or cupcakes for my girlfriends. Makes me feel great seeing them enjoy it…
I love RAK day!! Such a great thing to do. t hanks for these ideas!
Yay for Random Acts of Kindness Day! We need a little more kindness and forgiveness in this world!!!
I had no idea about this day! I have never heard about it before. I love the idea of day!
I knew there was one. Did not know what day.
I try to be as kind as possible every day. The least I can do…
I had no clue it was Random Acts of Kindness Day until AFTER someone paid for my coffee in the drive-thru at Starbucks! After I figured it out I realized how much of a jerk I must have looked like because I didn’t pay for the coffee for the person behind me ;-(
Cute cookies! And they look yummy, too!
I hate that I missed this! But really, we should be kind everyday!
I didn’t know there was a random acts of kindness day- we try to do acts of kindness wherever we go.
Lovely ideas! Didn’t know there was an official RAOK day. Cool! Will have to put some of these ideas to use, every day should be RAOK day!
I didn’t know it was on St. Patrick’s Day! I just wrote it down in the calendar, my kids love devoting time on this day to do things extra special for people.
I had no idea Feb 17 was RAOK day! It seems I need to make up for it, since now it will really be random.
I missed that day also and I’m okay with that. I believe that RAOK should be done on a daily basis, so I’ll have to add these 10 to my list.
I need to remember this for next year. What a fun way to surprise others. Though, I could celebrate everyday!
I don’t have anything specific planned for RAOK Day. I’m trying to be more deliberate and intentional to give more throughout the year.
Getting an unexpected gift from a RAOK would be great! It is the little things that make the world a brighter place.
Oh wow, totally missed this event. Didn’t even know such a day existed. Love the idea behind it though– the world needs more kindness 🙂
We try to do things like this all year round. But it is definitely nice that there’s a day for it as well.
One of my goals for 2015 is to do one act of random kindness daily. Amazing how one small act can make sure a huge difference in someones life.
Bummer! Looks like I missed out, too. I would have loved to share the fun with my kids. It would be fun to take something nice into their class and encourage their classmates to pay it forward to others at the school and beyond!
I have a friend that does a RAK day each week with her children. It’s so cool the stuff they decide to do. I love watching the smiles on the kids faces when they know they are doing good!
I know that I have always taught my kids to help others whenever we are able to. It doesn’t have to be anything huge either. Sometimes just holding a door open, smiling at someone, or asking how their day is is enough to put a smile on someone else’s face. I have a list of things that children can do to help others and pay it forward. Thank you for sharing.
The great thing about random acts of kindness is that we can follow your list any day of the year! That is another way of making it totally random.
I think doing random acts of kindness makes ME even happier than the recipient! I try to do little things whenever I can.
Now if only people would do RAOK every single day we would have a much better world.
No reason every day can’t be random acts day! Somedays I think my random act of kindness are solely used on the people in my house though, not sure if that counts.
I missed it too, but I do little things for people when I can.
I didn’t know that. I need to do more RAK…thanks for the reminder.
I think we were probably still so dazed over Valentine’s Day that we missed this! WOW!
We missed it this year but we do usually like to bake treats for our neighbors for no reason.
Didn’t know that about Feb. 17. Now I know. But better late than never, right? I’ll think of things to do this weekend. 🙂
I like doing little things here and there when I can for strangers. Even just smiling helps someone have a better days sometimes.
I try to practice it as much as possible. I have been the recipient of random acts of kindness myself and I try to pay it forward/back.
awesome ideas. i love random acts of kindness!!!! so important!
Oh man I missed it! I will definitely mark the date down for next year. It will be fun to help make others’ days brighter!!
I can’t believe I let this day slip by me. I will have to make it up by doing something extra special.
On a side note..sometimes, a glass of Tampico over ice really hits the spot in the summertime. If I had known about Random Acts of Kindness Day, I probably would have went out of my way to hold the door open for a stranger.
One year I gave the kids quarters and had them put them in gum ball and candy machines around town. We also left a little note telling people we wanted to brighten your day.
I love paying for the person in line behind me when I’m at a drive thru!
I’ve been trying to do a good deed a day. I like giving when I can.
I think it’s great that there’s a day for Random Acts of Kindness. It can really make a different to someone else when you do something simple but nice.
I try to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day every day. One of my favorite things to do is to buy Pop Rocks (candy) and randomly mail a packet to someone with whom I haven’t spoken in a long time. No note, no explanation … just a packet of Pop Rocks. It always seems to brighten their day.
