We recently as a family got to make a trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana. If you are from Chicago, it's about a 4 hour drive for you (easily done in a day). It's a small town (compared to Chicago, that is), but they were so welcoming, and we found plenty of things to do there!
- Fort Wayne Children's ZooThis has to be one of the best Children's Museums we;ve been too. There was so much to see and do here! They had rides (you had to get tokens for these so there is an extra expense) too. We fed the giraffes and learned about the Tasmanian devils. We easily spent an entire morning here with my 11 and 14 year old.
- Science CentralThe kids had a blast at Science Central . It's exactly what you'd expect. The place is full of science experiments that your kids can do. They are learning and having fun! The day we were there they were expecting rain, so this was a great way to stay dry!
- GreekfestIf you happen to be in Fort Wayne when Greekfest is there, I highly recommend you check them out. We had some amazing food, heard some amazing music, and really had a great time!
- Yummi Bunni
This place is a must stop place in Fort Wayne. I have never seen anything like these sandwiches before, and we loved them so. Basically, you have a donut. Then you choose what flavor ice cream you want with which toppings you want. As you can see, everybody got a little something different. We devoured them all! - Tin Caps Baseball GameThe TinCaps baseball park is impressive. They have a great team here, and we'd love to come back and support them! I highly recommend checking out one of the games if they are in town playing!
As you can see, we had a great time in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I highly recommend you check them out in your are in the neighborhood. There is plenty to see and do. I just barely touched the iceberg of things to do — you can also visit the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, the Botanical Conservatory, etc. We just ran out of time on our weekend adventure.
