From costumes and decorations to food and drinks, there are many ways to create a fun and customized Halloween party for all of your friends to attend. Even if you do not want to create a full on party, set up a ‘tailgate’ outside of your house for all of the kids to come trick-or-treat and have a ‘spooktastic’ time. A lot of the parties and decorated houses you see nowadays are the same old outdated decorations that you see every year, but if you are ready to change that and create a unique and fun Halloween area, keep reading!
7 Creative Halloween Ideas
Most Halloween parties just include regular soft drinks and maybe wine and beer for the adults, but you really should take it a notch higher and create a Spooky Witches’ Brew. This brew is perfect for parties, but also for your tailgate if you are not hosting a party. There is no actual recipe – you can use your favorite punch recipe, or you could use a festive apple cider for this. The trick is to make it spooky by adding dry ice. Please keep in mind that you cannot ingest dry ice, so the trick is to have two bowls – one is your drink bowl and the other is your dry ice bowl. Your dry ice bowl should preferably be painted black, or another spooky color (maybe blood red?) and you will add your dry ice in the bottom of that bowl. Once your dry ice is in, add your drink bowl on top of it. Test it out before you actually use it because you don’t want your drink bowl showing — it needs to fit down perfectly in the dry ice bowl, so it looks like you are scooping out of the smoke. Bonus points if you can make your punch a creepy green color!
There are so many Halloween Party Snack Ideas on Pinterest, it is crazy and you are sure to find something that fits your day. Some of my favorite ideas are the Jack-O-Lantern Chip and Dip, Rice Krispy Treat Brains, and the Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cups. If you are looking for easy ideas, go for a modern ‘create your own’ bar idea: like a candy apple station.
Ghosts and zombies are a time of the past – go for something more you! For starters, I love all of these creative costume ideas on Bored Panda. To help you narrow down your costume choice, I have a few questions that you can ask yourself. Do you have any first thoughts or ideas about what you want to be? Do you have any favorite movie or TV show characters? Are you doing an individual costume, or are you doing a double costume with someone else? Do you want your costume to be funny or spooky? Are you catering your costume choice to adults or kids? Can you make your costume yourself to save money or do you want to order it online? Those questions should get you started on your costume choice!
I love some of the traditional Halloween decorations like cobwebs, spiders, ghosts, and graves, but there is always room to spruce up your Halloween decor. One of my favorite ways to do this is by purchasing things that can double as normal decor, as well as also using things that you already have in your home. One of my ideas this year is to purchase a custom made sword – it could be used as a costume addition if someone was dressing up as a samurai, or it just be a decoration. I looked online and came across Swords of Northshire and thought their swords would be a great option. They not only offer Samurai swords, but they also have ninja swords, knives, custom swords, and accessories. For their custom swords, you have many options like blade length, Hamon type, Fittings, and more to create a completely personalized katana. They even have a ‘sword glossary’ so that you can make your own sword with ease, even if you don’t know what you are talking about! Swords of Northshire has a goal of exceeding your expectations and puts customer service as their highest priority, so you can expect to have all of your questions answered through email, phone, or even live chat on their website. If you are searching for a sword to add to your art collection and/or to use as a Halloween decoration or prop, I definitely recommend checking out the Swords of Northshire website to see all of their sword options for yourself!
- Spooky Additions
Adding spooky additions in throughout your party, or around your trick-or-treat spot is perfect! Someone could pop out of your bushes for a scare, you could add a haunted garage, or you could even set up a fun scavenger hunt – whatever you decide will be fun and perfect for your guests!
