In May of 2013, the Huffington Post reported teens send and receive over one hundred text messages per day. It is said 94% of teenagers are using social media. Finally a tool has been developed to educate our young users of technology in appropriate on-line habits and security best practice.
Throughout A Beginners Guide to On-line Security, Wendi Finn will explain the following concepts in terms new users of technology can easily understand:
• Accessing the Internet
• Risks of the Internet
• Security Online
• E-Mail
• Video Chat
• Social Networking
• Technology in the Classroom
You'll learn skills that will help your kids right now and prepare them for a secure future. I found this book to be a very beginner's book but a great introduction to the internet. It definitely gets you kids thinking about what they post online. It also explains all the technology out there. I'm actually going to be donating this to my kids school, so they can also use it with the kids there! My kids understand the internet, but there are plenty of parents that aren't as tech savvy as me!
This is a great workbook.
Online security is pretty important. 🙂
Oh very good. Children aren’t apt to be especially security minded, and we do need to start thinking about how to broach this conversation as a natural part of life here in the twenty-first century. If we are teaching sex education in schools, why not cyber security? Children at the very youngest ages today are carrying devices that can be used very destructively, if placed in the wrong hands. Thanks for the post.
Everyone should read this book. BE AWARE.
I do find that amazing about the hundred text messages a day that teens receive! I do think it would benefit all of us to read A Beginners Guide to On-line Security.
