How To Plan A Backyard Movie Night With Beauty And The Beast

Do you know how to create an outdoor kid-friendly movie night in your backyard? It is pretty simple if you follow these steps:

  1. Set The Scene
  2. Treats
  3. Crafts
  4. Fan Items

There is nothing like having a backyard party with your kid friends and enjoying a show. It is a great way to create fun memories.

Set The Scene

We had a great time setting up our backyard for this film! You just need aPortable pocket projector,Tailgater speaker, and the cords. If you don't have a white privacy fence like we do, you may need a sheet then too. We lucked out that our fence worked amazingly!

Treats

Now, you can't do Beauty and the Beast without a great snack. I'd like to introduce you to my Grey Matter Chocolate Mousse. Theylook like they are hard but these are super simple! Simply melt baking chocolate or chocolate chips in a small bowl in the microwave, heating in intervals of 30 seconds. Once fully melted use a pastry brush and paint the insides of a silicone baking mold. Place in the refrigerator and allow to harden for about 10 mins. Pull out and paint the cups again. When done place in the freezer for at least an hour to allow for a solid sturdy bowl. They are a tad more chocolatey than grey, but the kids loved the idea for the snack for the movie!

Crafts

Next, while waiting for dark we worked on a stained glass window craft. I had kid of all ages and art abilities, and we told them they could do this as creative as they wanted. First, we had them draw the window and then trace their hand in the window.

Color in your handprint (as the rose) and create a stem.

Then allow them to decorate as they wish. As you can see, we had all sorts of ideas here!

Fan Items

You can even pick up some Beauty and The Beast swag.

Then it was time to watch the movie.

Everyone love it, and we are planning a few more movies under the stars this summer!

That is an awesome idea to set up a backyard screening of Beauty and the Beast. My daughter is crazy over the movie and now that school’s over, I am sure she’ll be watching the movie over and over again on DVD. BTW, your cupcakes look so good. I will try to make some too.

Once you have the equipment, it is so easy to do. My 13 year old can set it all up herself for her and her friends.

Sounds like such a fun movie night. I love the handprint rose craft…my boys would love to make those. And of course they would love to eat the cupcakes, too!

I had kids of so many different ages, so its something all ages can do. Plus, I think they turned out super cute with each kid doing their own take on it.
