BioBags

Up until recently, I had never heard of BioBags — the world's leading brand of compostable bags. However, I think they are the best thing since sliced bread now! I am being serious. There are very few products out there that my husband is truly in love with — this is one of them.

My introduction to BioBags was with our new puppy Daisy. I learned that regular polythylene -based plastic bags can take well over 100 years to degrade and are not compostable. However, BioBags use no polyethylene in the production process. Instead, they are fully certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. The bag itself with decompose in 10 – 40 days in a municipal composting environment.

BioBags are super easy to use. You put your hand inside the bag, grab the waste, and then reverse the bag. You insert the film through the hole on top of the bag and pull down to secure the dog waste. Now, it doesn't say it, but I then tie it shut. You don't need to do that, but for some reason, it makes me feel better. You then dispose of it in an approved waste disposal bin.

I never thought I'd be excited over a dog waste product, but I am. This is a product that I can proudly tell you to use (and even better, they even had kitchen waste bags in their line of products!).
