Cablemover Giveaway!

This giveaway is now over. The winner is Karen M. Congrats!

Millions of Americans plan to move this summer.  Did you know that the average American has over 60 tasks to do in order to prepare for the move?  (Having moved in the past myself, I swear it is way more than 60 things).  Important decisions can easily slip through the tracks. Recommended by HGTV’s Lisa LaPorta and new product journalist David Gregg, Cablemover.com helps you easily incorporate technology into your new home. You can connect your cable TV, phone and internet in one stop at Cablemover.com.  I love anything that makes my life easier, and this definitely does.

CableMover

Since I know we can all use as much help as possible with moving, I’ve arranged for one lucky reader to get a Cablemover prize pack!  In it, you will find:

$25 eGift Card to Home Depot
             (2) cablemover.com branded tote bags!
             (2) HGTV books (Curb Appeal and Flower Gardening)

Here’s what you need need to do:

Leave me a comment telling me a moving tip you use when you move. For me, I make a point to label what room the boxes go into, so when people are carrying them in, they can put them in the correct room. It’s the little things like that that can help you save time and your sanity. 🙂

  1. The tip I use when moving is to pack a little bit at a time. I get too overwhelmed if I do too much at once!

  2. pretty much… label everything clearly… and since moving is often exhausting… make a 'needed now' box that if nothing else gets unpacked… you can at least make it thru the immediate

  3. When I pack up the tv cables, computer cables and other cords I tag them with a sticker where they go to

  4. Take before and after pictures of furniture and such in case you have to prove the movers damaged something.

  5. I arrange for the little ones to be taken elsewhere and entertained! It makes it so much easier!

  6. My tip is to do the packing in small doses. It does not become as overwhelming and it keeps everything together.

  7. In addition to labeling boxes by room, I also make sure to have the critical, 'we'll need this first' stuff easily accessible (think kitchen bare necessities, toiletries, some clothes, meds…)

  8. I make sure that my pets are with friends when I'm moving (especially the cat, since cats hate moves and have a tendency to hide and I don't want to spend hours searching for Miss Kittica Kitty!). Then I pick them up afterwards!

  9. I also label everything and I make sure the things we need first get loaded last and unloaded first.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. Start early! We are in the process of moving right now, sad thing I didn't use your tip eek. LOL Oh well I will be opening boxes to see where they go.

  11. I think it's a good idea to throw away or donate items that you haven't used in a long time. It's better to get rid of it before you move stuff you won't use in your new home either!

  12. I don't empty drawers when I move. I pull them out, wrap and secure a large sheet of bubble wrap around them and send them that way. When in the new place, just unwrap and put them back in the chest.

  13. A moving tip I have is to bribe as many friends and family members as you can to help and promise pizza and beer afterwards.

  14. Make sure you wrap everything carefully, I use newspaper when wrapping up fragile items, and mark the box as fragile, thanks

  15. Items you KNOW you'll need right away (towels, utensils, etc.) – write those vital things on the outside of the box in addition to indicating what room the box goes to.

  16. Tip for Moving: Put the boxes directly into the rooms that they need to go so that you don't have to do it later. It may not be all that great to climb a flight of stairs that often, but if you have help – it will be easier then doing it all yourself later. And yes, LABEL LABEL LABEL. And drink plenty of water!!

  17. My tip is to not skimp on the packing material. There is nothing worse than finding your favorite dishes in a 100 pieces when you unpack

  18. I color code all the boxes that contain items for the same room-for example all kitchen boxes have red on them.

  19. I make sure everything is super clean before I pack, it makes wiping down everythng once it's all unpacked easier!

  20. When I know I'll be moving, I save the boxes to electronics, appliances, and anything fragile. I break them down flat and put them in storage, then I just take them out again and put the object that goes with the box inside. It keeps my nice things from getting damaged in the process, and I also know exactly where something is by looking for the specific box (like if I'm looking for my Pyrex).

  21. I alaso label rooms, but also keep fragilez till very last and keep fragile boxes together so they aren't all throughout the truck possibly under heavy boxes.

  22. My tip is to weed out your closet, books, and garage! there is a lot of stuff you really don't need or would end up paying to store anywayl

  23. My tip is if you dont need/want something, donate it or have a yard sale-dont pack and have to deal with it in your new home-start out clutter free

  24. I put things that I will need right away in a box or boxes and label them and keep them with me so I know where they are

  25. I make an open me first box that has paper plates, napkins, plastic forks and a pizza cutter as well as paper towels and toliet tissue and light bulbs so I can open it first and get pizza to serve to the people helping us move.

    kerrie@mayansfamily.com

  26. I start packing stuff we don't use frequently, months in advance to save myself from rushing to pack when we are close to the moving date!

  27. I label the boxes for what goes in them (electronic gadgets, health & beauty, etc). I leave all the boxes open until the end so I don't end up with boxes at the end that are filled with whatever happened to be within arm's reach as I walked by. It makes it SO much easier to find things while you're needing things but not unpacked yet.

  28. I will certainly use this tip: Use a labeler with color coated labels to identify what cable goes into the correct input on all of your audio, video and computer equipment before you unplug everything for packing. This strategy will remove the guesswork when reconnecting.

  29. Thanks for the giveaway…ALWAYS vet the moving company with the Better Business Bureau before you sign the contract !

  30. We used a 'must have' box the last time we moved, that had all the things we have to have the first night and next morning after moving. It has a change of clothes, breakfast stuff, cups, shower stuff, towels, etc.
