Celebrate Girl Scout Leaders Day!

Did you know that Girl Scout Leaders day is April 22nd? As a past Girl Scout Troop Leader, I can tell you that you have no idea how much time, effort, and money is put in by your local Girl Scout Troop Leaders. On our own time, we have to attend training, we have to attend monthly Girl Scout Leader meetings, and we have to set up what we are going to do in our meetings. During cookie season, we have to organize cookie orders, pick up thousands of cookies, and set up cookie booths.  We may also do silly things like dress up as a cookie to get a few more cookie sales:

We are also making phone calls to have a guest speaker or getting supplies at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby before a troop meeting. We pick up the badges that the girls earn too.  That is just a small glimpse into what your local Girl Scout Troop leader is doing and why you should definitely extend a thank you! Head over to the Tampico website for a few things you can do to help celebrate your local Girl Scout Leaders!

What have you done for your local Girl Scout troup leader in the past?  Have any of these ideas helped you for this year?

  1. When my daughter was a Brownie I would help out with the troop. That was a long time ago! Girl Scout leaders are so giving of their time and talents and it’s such a wonderful organization.

Girl Scouts is a great organization. It’s great that their leaders are getting recognized for all their hard work.

  3. Growing up I was never part of Girl Scouts and thought it was just something made up from television. I cannot wait to have kids of my own so they can be a part of this experience .

  4. Happy Girl Scout Leaders Day! I had no idea it required so much planning and miscellaneous things. Then again .. who would do all that .. but the Girl Scout Leader

  5. We don’t have Girl Scouts here we have girl guides. I try to help out any way I can when they come door to door. I used to be one so I know what its like and help how I can!

  6. I have been my daughters GS troop leader for 5 yrs now . I only have one question for you- where did you get that cookie costume? I have to have one!! Lol

  7. I had an amazing girl scout leader growing up. I never thought about putting my daughter in scouts until she asked about it a year ago. Bummer, she would have loved it.

I also remember going to girl scout camp too. Ah, the memories. Thank you to all the troop leaders who serve so graciously.

  8. The quality of the Girl Scouting experience depends entirely on the leaders of the troop. It is only as good as they are willing to give of their time, their creativity, and their love of scouting. I was a leader for 8 years and I can truly say that I got more out of scouting then the girls in my troop did, simply because I learned from them every single time we met.

Girl Scouts do so many great things for our young girls! It’s good to see that you are giving back by helping them out when they need you!

  10. I did not know April 22 is Girl Scout Leaders day . I do not know any personally but i know they have a lot to do when they are leader. Thank you to all the Girl Scout Leaders for all your hard work.

  11. I don’t personally know any Girl Scouts in my area. My daughter was a Brownie but she lost interest after a short time. We do purchase cookies though!

  12. My daughter was going to girl scouts before we moved here and loved it. I didn’t realize they had a day for leaders. That’s really great!

  13. I know troop leaders work very hard and I think it’s great. Over the years the GS’s have begun to support Planned Parenthood and their website links to PPH and other sites that I feel are inappropriate for young girls, so we stopped supporting them. For now…

  14. The Girl Scouts is such a great organization for little girls to get into. The skills and message they teach is something that cannot be overstressed in importance.

  15. I didn’t know there was a Girl Scout Leader day. It has been years since I was a girl scout and I had two boys. Their were in Boy Scouts. It is nice to celebrate all the leaders who do so much for our girls. Kudos to all. I love the cookie outfit which would get more sells. Thanks for sharing,
