Colic

Calling all moms! I have a question. For the last two days, Will gets into these crying jags that nothing will make him stop crying. I have tried everything. After dealing with him for an hour last night, I handed him off to Bill and I kid you not, he stopped crying after about 5 – 7 minutes. This also worked on Saturday night. However, Bill isn't always here.

Does this sound like colic? Or just crabby kid?

It's hard to say. I know when my daughter was an infant she would cry all the time and if I handed her off she would stop. I never did figure out what was wrong and thought it would be the death of me. I remember being so exhausted from the baby crying that I'd be crying myself. If in doubt though, I highly suggest calling the pediatrician. Sorry if this isn't much help, but I do feel for you. I hope it improves soon, I'm sure it will.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one that dealt with this. I talked to his Dr. today and they really don't do anything for colic.

My daughter had colic for SIX months! It was pure hell. Usually, her little tummy would get hard and tight. Sometimes not, though.

I read a book that all but saved my life: Harvey Karp's Happiest Baby on the Block. He talks about the simple ways to get your baby to stop crying and yes, they are simple, but a tired paretn cannot think enough to always have the answers.
