Did you know that April is Financial Literacy Month? In 2016, SunTrust launched the onUp Movement to inspire millions of Americans to take a step toward financial confidence. The onUp Movement is about having the confidence to move forward—one smart step at a time. I know most people are completely lost on what to do with their money, so they aren't financially confident in their decisions.

First, let's think about when you were confident. For me, I'm really good at public speaking. I get nervous like everybody else, but I am always asked to get up and talk. I've done funeral eulogies to speaking parts in church. You need a public speaker; I am your go to girl. I am also your social media girl. I have helped people set up blogs, social media accounts, etc. I help businesses run their accounts. I do have to say I have a lot of confidence in my ability to do this, because I have done it for so long. What is something you are confident in? Start thinking about that.

You need to apply that confidence we talked about in the paragraph before to your finances. I luck out, my neighbor is a financial planner that allows me to pick his brains on how to plan for our and our kids financial future. Not only do we have to worry about college tuition, we have to worry about how we are going to pay for high school tuition. Plus, we also still have to plan for our retirement. You can guess where the money I make goes towards! How are we doing this? We have a brokerage account just for tuition. We are looking into scholarship already too even though Madison is only in 7th grade. For us, just having a plan in place has made us so much more confident.

How are you moving past your financial worry and focusing on your financial confidence?

At SunTrust Bank their purpose is lighting the way to financial well-being. When you feel confident about your money, you can save for your goals and spend knowingly on what matters most to you.

The onUp Movement is 1 million strong…and growing. onUp is about having the confidence to move forward one smart step at a time.
