This is the time of year everybody's kids get sick. It seems like the germs just stick around longer now that it is cold. Did you know that school age kids get around eight to twelve colds per year? Amazing, right? Colds can last anywhere from six days to two weeks, so symptom relief from coughs, runny nose, etc., is important especially if you have an entire house sick (and doesn't that always seem to happen. It is never just one person sick). I know that I am not the only one who struggles getting their kids to take medicine to make them feel better. There are so many products on the market that just taste like “medicine”. That means they don't taste good and that your kids don't want to take it (and really, who can blame them. I don't like taking medicine that tastes like feet either, and I am an adult). Us parents aren't alone either. In a new national survey of U.S. parents of school-aged children (ages 4-13), 40% say that they find it isn't always easy to give their child(ren) over-the-counter liquid cough and cold medicine. Of those surveyed, one third of parents believe the taste of the medicine impacts how easy it is to give their child the medicine. I've personally had my kids spit their medicine out solely based on taste.
Dr. Cocoa™ for Children offers another option for us parents. It's the first-ever chocolate flavored cough and cold medicine line for children. With its soothing formula made with a combination of effective ingredients and 10% real cocoa for a real chocolate taste, Dr. Cocoa™ helps parents fight the cold and not their kid(s) when it comes time to give them cough and cold relief medicine. What does this mean? No more fighting and kids who actually want to take their medicine!
Dr. Cocoa™ for Children comes in three patented formulas:
- Dr. Cocoa™ Long-Acting Cough Relief: relieves coughs for up to eight hours without causing drowsiness in children ages 4-13 (active ingredient: Dextromethorphan). Follow the package label for exact dose by age, or speak to your child's pediatrician.
- Dr. Cocoa™ Daytime Cough + Cold Relief: relieves stuffy nose and cough for children ages 4-13. Its non-drowsy formula makes it ideal for daytime use (active ingredients: Dextromethorphan and Phenylephrine). Follow the package label for exact dose by age, or speak to your child's pediatrician.
- Dr. Cocoa™ Nighttime Cough + Cold Relief: Made especially for children ages 6-13 to relieve coughs, along with stuffy nose, runny nose and sneezing at night (active ingredients: Diphenhydramine, Phenylephrine). Follow the package label for exact dose by age, or speak to your child's pediatrician.

These look like something I have to have stocked in my bathrooms for cold and flu season.
We have Dr. Cocoa and it really works fantastic. We also have the little puppet. He’s a star in our household, lol. We’re a little Dr. Cocoa obsessed!
Wow! A medicine brand I’ve never heard of! I might have to check this stuff out next time my princess isn’t feeling that great 😉
This sounds great. I bet my girls would love this. I feel like they have one long continuous cold now that my oldest is in school!
I love this! Getting my kids to take their medicine is like wrestling with two unruly greased pigs!
I haven’t heard of this brand before, and I don’t have little ones anymore, but this looks like a great resource for parents. Thanks for sharing – I’m sure many moms will be glad to know about this stuff during cold and flu season!
This is perfect for my son who always asks first: Does it taste bad? He knows bad tasting medicine, and def. doesn’t want to repeat the flavor. 😉
Great post for moms! Must remember when our loved ones are in need of our affection
These sound like great medicines for kids. Especially handy for this time of year with all the colds and flu.
Dr Cocoa would have made giving my kids there medicine so much easier when they were little. I will share this with my friends that have little ones.
Such a great way to get the kids to take their medicine, I love the little mascot too!
Well, this is different. Never heard of them but will give them a try. Anything to make my kid take his medicine, I will do.
This is SO great! My lil’ dude just hates taking medicine!
Cocoa medicine? That is so smart. I will try it out when the occasion calls for it.
I’ve never heard of this brand but it looks like it works great!
This sounds like a neat way to give kids meds, I bet my tween would love chocolate flavored meds. I have not seen these in stores yet.
