I live with a perfectionist. It takes Madison twice as long to do her homework, because if her writing isn’t perfect, we have to erase and start over. It drives me insane which is why I happily introduced this book to her.
The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes is about Beatrice Bottomwell. She is a nine-year-old girl who has never (not once!) made a mistake. She never forgets her math homework, she never wears mismatched socks, and she ALWAYS wins the yearly talent show at school. In fact, Beatrice holds the record of perfection in her hometown, where she is known as The Girl Who Never Makes Mistakes. Life for Beatrice is sailing along pretty smoothly until she does the unthinkable—she makes her first mistake. And in a very public way!
Now, I am not going to tell you what mistake she makes. That would ruin the book. However, I like how the author ended the story and makes kids realize that nobody is perfect, and life is maybe even better when you aren’t always trying to be perfect. The pictures are great and this book is for ages 4 – 8. It was easy enough for Madison to read on her own.
If you have a perfectionist in your life, The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes is a must read.
I'm definitely a perfectionist, and I think my grandson is, too! Sounds like this would be a great gift for him!!
