As many of you know, I love supporting small businesses that have great products. Goofy Grin Monsters is one of those products I just love. Instead of a single mom starting an educational company up, Goofy Grin Monsters was created by a single dad, because he felt his daughter was spending too much time playing video games and watching television (and who hasn’t felt like that with their own kids?). To remedy this situation, he created four plush monster characters that are both colorful and happy.
I love these monsters. Each has their own personality and look to them. Best of all, they aren’t scary even though they are monsters. The plush is sooooo soft and these are fairly big plush monsters. My son is into all things fluffy, and these totally fit the bill. A little bit about each character:
Sloan is the mayor and leader of Goofy Grin Village. He was born in a volcano and rose from the lava in a fiery orb. He watches out for the other Goofy Grin Monsters and strives to keep them safe. Sloan is a daredevil at heart who loves seeking thrills and excitement. He is also very good at convincing his often reluctant monster friends to join him on his adventures. He is strong, tough and remains cool under pressure. Sloan is wearing his slick jacket with flames on it.
Candy is the carefree, playful chef and baker of Goofy Grin Village. She rose out of the root of a giant sugar cane in an orb made out of crystallized sugar. She is a master at making the most delicious desserts in the world. She has sugar running through her body making her extremely active, fast and energetic. She has candy stick eyebrows, gumdrop teeth, licorice hair, candy corn claws and horns, and a cupcake nose.
BoJoe is the forest ranger, carpenter and farmer of Goofy Grin Village. He is friends with all the forest animals in Goofy Grin Village and helps them out when they are in trouble. He protects the forest from whatever danger comes its way. He is a master craftsman and passionate environmentalist who responsibly uses the resources around him for his carpentry and farming projects. He is sporting his favorite pair of denim overalls to help him in his workshop and garden.
Irmi is the mad scientist of Goofy Grin Village. She was born in a swamp and floated out of the water in a fumy orb. She believes she has a natural understanding of chemicals and loves to dabble in chemistry. Irmi is bright and colorful with her super soft body. She has a little wild monster in her with her neon green hair, lopsided eyes and her funky ears.
On top of these awesome monsters, there is also a book series that you can also get! “Why Are There Monsters in My Room?” is a level one reading book intended to help children get over their fear of the dark. Four more books will be coming out that focuses on each individual monster, from the time they were born, until they reach the Goofy Grin Village. After that, several more books will be released about all the monsters together out on adventures. The moral message in all these books will be accepting each other’s differences, and viewing them as strengths rather than weaknesses, and then using each individual’s strength together in a team to overcome obstacles.
I totally love all of these products. The first book is completely interactive asking questions like “what is your favorite game to play” and “what scares you at night”. They definitely will get a conversation going between you and your child.
