Just to show you that I really do shop at Jewel I snapped a quick picture of my receipt from grocery shopping yesterday.
Yes, that is what happens when -50 windchills hit your area, and your kids get 2 (aff) snow days. You end up eating yourself out of house and home (aff)! Seriously! After I dropped the kids off to school, I had an amazing shopping trip. Jewel went over and beyond what I expected today. Since my iron is so low, I am trying to eat foods high in iron. One of the foods I found that is high in iron is shrimp. I have been buying fresh shrimp so I can eat them as a snack (and shrimp is one of my favorite foods). The lady was just setting up the shelves when I asked if I was able to get shrimp or if I had to wait. She said that she'd help me and since they had some left over shrimp from the day before, she'd sell it to me for half price. I have no issue eating day old shrimp, so I happily jumped at that!
What truly impressed me with Jewel's customer service the most is what happened when I went to check out. Jewel does ask if you want help out normally. I usually turn them down. However, it was so cold yesterday morning. I also had a cart and then half of another cart full. They asked if I wanted to pull up to the front of the building, and they would help me load my van. Well in below zero windchill temps, I am not turning that down! I couldn't thank them enough. Also, since I was alone, having help really cut the time outside in half.
I love that Jewel went the extra step to give me hand. What great customer service experiences have you had?
Good customer service will have me coming back for more! We don’t have a Jewel – but they sound great!
Good customer service makes a huge difference in where I shop. I love my local grocery store (and not just because it’s close)…they are always helpful, friendly, and available. I don’t paying a little more to avoid the nightmare that big, impersonal retailers can be (like my Walmart, unfortunately).
We don’t have a Jewel here but it sounds like a great place.
oh, wow! love that price for shrimp. my kids devour it and my husband does so we don’t have it often- too pricey for us.
Wow! That is a crazy looking receipt. We don’t have Jewel here in Cali but perhaps we have others that are similar. I love shrimp and can’t believe your awesome deal! I’d really like to know the entire list!
That is so nice. Sounds like they’ve discovered the secret of good customer service. I wish we had a Jewel in my area.
What great customer service! Too bad you didn’t have help unloading when you got home, too!
I agree! I had to carry it all in by myself!
It’s great to hear about GOOD customer service. It’s so easy to pick-up on the bad side. Kudos to Jewel!
That sounds like QUITE a shop! Wish we had a shop like that here. Customer service makes all the difference.
Great customer service sure makes a big difference. I wish we had a Jewel near us!
Wow, that really is amazing customer service! I wish we had a store like that around here in Miami!
It’s so refreshing to read about good customer service. So often all we hear are the negatives. I love when stores go the extra mile with services such as loading your groceries into your car.
I had no idea that Jewell has some awesome customer service! I wish we had one in our area!
I used to shop at Jewel when I lived in Chicago. Since you’re low in iron, do you cook in cast iron pots? I saw this article about getting women to use cast iron fish in their cooking pots in Cambodia and thought maybe you could do that, too – http://boingboing.net/2011/11/23/lucky-iron-fish-persuades-camb.html.
The problem I have with that is that my husband has high iron, so I’d have to use 2 different pots to cook.
Great customer service is really important to me!
I do love Jewel!
How nice of them. I don’t envy that freezing weather up there!
Sounds like you not only received great customer service, but that you also ran into at least one great deal!
We use to have a Jewel a long, long time ago. I loved that store.
I love great customer service! I haven’t shopped at Jewel before but I it sounds great!
I always love hearing about great customer service. We have two Jewel stores in my town and one has awful customer service with some seriously surly cashiers. The other one is a smaller store but the people who work there are so much nicer and are always asking if you need help.
There isn’t a Jewel around here, but I keep hearing such good things about it I wish there was. I recently had great customer service from the electricians who rewired my dad’s house. Great customer service always means I will use that company again.
it’s not anywhere near that cold here, but I usually ask for help out because of a disability. We don’t have Jewel here, but it does sound like they know how to treat people. Oh, and shrimp. Yum.
No jewel here and that appears to be a good thing. I may shop there a lot apparently!
I think that is awesome that they helped load your groceries.
customer service is huge – especially in the grocery store! I LOVE Publix for that reason. My family eats some pretty off the wall stuff and I cannot stand when I ask for a product (that I know they sell) and the employee looks at me like I’m an idiot!
I didn’t even realize shrimp was high in iron, cool. Customer service really does make or break your experience especially when you’ve been housebound!
You can get your groceries anywhere. It is the little things that keep you coming back again and again. Customer service is so important. Wish we had a Jewel near us.
I used to love shopping at Jewel! We don’t have any nearby anymore. They should open one again 😉
Good customer service is soooooo important. I don’t understand why all companies don’t understand that.
We don’t have a Jewel- but I love the customer service at Trader Joe’s!
Your grocery receipt reminds me of a recent one of mine! I don’t mind the shopping or bringing in but i am not a fan of putting that many groceries away!
First off, that is way too cold! I am so glad to hear that Jewel Osco has great customer service. It is hard to find that some times.
Seems like every store these days lacks customer service. This store sounds great, wish there was one down here in South Florida !
I wish we had these stores near me.
Wow I wish we had a Jewel! That’s great
We don’t have a Jewel here, but I totally know what you mean about the snow days! My cupboard is BARE!
That is so awesome of them! I miss the days when more stores had great customer service like that.
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe how long that receipt is but this weather is doing that to a lot of us, isn’t it? Yay Jewel!
Shrimp is yummy, but I probably wouldn’t eat it more than once or twice in a week because it’s high in cholesterol. Cholesterol is good, but too much of it isn’t great. High iron foods not high in cholesterol: dark leafy greens (we put spinach in a lot of things and we also love kale and broccoli), dried fruit like prunes and raisins, red meat, beans. There are more. But I would try to do a variety maybe. Hopefully you will find other iron rich foods you like. 🙂
The Jewel by us is also very friendly. Yep the -50 temps sent us right to the store for food!
What a receipt!! Glad there is still such thing as good customer service.
Jewel is not my store for so many reasons, but yes, when you have a ton of items, that’s so nice to have someone who’s willing to help you get it out. I remember my mom shopping and buying that much food, but I can’t fathom it (yet?) myself!
great customer service is what keeps people coming back
We don’t have a Jewel but I shop a lot at our local commissary and the customer service there is great. If it wasn’t I wouldn’t go back.
Jewel sounds like a great place to shop! That may just be the longest receipt I’ve seen, too 🙂
Great customer service can really make or break a business. I know I avoid a place that doesn’t offer it.
good customer service is rare these days so its great when business still have it!
Jewel Sounds terrific. I find some businesses give super customer service and other not so great. But it is nice to get help when needed. Smaller businesses do try harder though.
