Can you believe that it is almost the end of the school year? I know some kids get out this week already (mine go until June 3rd, but I know others who go to the middle of June!). Here in Chicago, the weather surely doesn't feel like summer is on its way (freeze advisory last weekend if you an believe that!), but it is. With the school out for summer, you also have to start worrying about summer learning loss.
Who doesn't want to give their child an advantage the next school year? By continuing to learn over the summer, you can stop the brain drain. No child can resist the temptation of conducting fun and messy science experiments, or embarking on an adventure reading a captivating story. That is whereCarson–DellosaSummer Activities workbooks come into play to help.
These teacher-recommended, award-winning Summer Bridge Activities workbooks help to prevent summer learning loss and prepares students for the school year ahead in just 15 minutes a day. (Yes, how easy is it to carve out 15 minutes during their summer days!) Each grade-specific book is designed to help students review the essential skills of their current grade level and to prepare them for the next grade level.
Will and I have already been taking a look at his book for the summer! We will be working on it on our plane ride to Mexico and while we are on vacation. We will we reading every day this summer and this just adds a little extra time to make sure that he is well prepared come August. This is how you keep your kids from being bored! Plus, he liked knowing that he only has to do a couple of worksheets a day. He's already told me the beginning stuff is “easy peasy!”.
I have a feeling that August will come just as quick as June did, and I'm glad to help my kids with a jumpstart to their next grade's learning. To help your kids keep learning, here is a coupon code for 25% off Summer Bridge workbooks: SBA25! Just use it when you check out!
How do you keep your kids busy during the summer and keep them learning?
Summer Bridge is a great idea. I know my kids always have a rough first couple of weeks when they have to roll back into school mode.
I have never even heard of Summer Bridge. I am sure going to try it this summer! I remember the heartache of returning to school after a long summer, this is such a great solution!
I’ve never heard of these, thanks for the info! Our last day is the 10th–I’m pretty excited! I have upcoming 2nd graders and a kindergartner, I would love to have some fun learning time this summer. Can’t wait to check these out–thanks for the coupon code 🙂
These books are such a great resource. I homeschooled my kids and we’d use these to supplement some subjects.
This is something to think about. I know I do, that way they don’t forget during the summer.
These activity workbooks sound so fun. I would love to get this for the twins.
I know the kids around here have just another week or so. Some go well in to June. I am sure parents are already starting to fill up their summer vacation and trip plans, but still need something to fill in the blanks.
We are also going to Mexico but kid free. I try to get my kids into as many activities as is remotely possible to keep them busy, but my sons school does a fantastic job of sending home workbooks like these. It is awesome.
I have not seen these work books before!! Great idea I always worry about my kids being able to remember everything they learned the year before.
That’s a great idea. I need to check in to these. My girls go to summer school so that they can still learn. It’s sad to see how much you can actually forget over the summer.
I look for engaging activities, sometimes printables and workbooks too, that are about topics that interest them. My daughter, 9, is quick to make notes and turn fun activities into research projects.
I love these books, we have used them before but for some reason I wasn’t ready for this Summer. Thanks for the reminder!
This sounds like a perfect program. I am going to try to get my kids to read.
I have gotten these many times for my kids over the summer. This summer I’m going to keep my kindergartener reading for 1st grade next year.
It’s super easy for kids to forget what they’ve learned in school over the long summer break. I’m sure these work books make the first week back at school a little less stressful, since your child has been reviewing a little each day. Teachers sure have a knack for testing kids the first or second day, and of course, no one remembers anything from the previous year!
This is so great! When I was a kid I remember getting sooooo bored during the Summer. I remember I couldn’t wait until school got out, but by aboug halfway through I couldn’t wait for it to get back in.
