Learn to Swim Like A Fish: Big Blue Swim School

disclosureIn my family, swimming is very important. My husband grew up swimming on the swim team and was a life guard. We totally understand water safety and the need to learn how to swim. That's why I was so excited to check out the Big Blue Swim School!

Did you know that theBig Blue Swim School does not charge a registration fee for swim lessons? How great is that? I know most of the places around here do.

Their changing rooms are amazing. They have microbe resistant carpet so that you don't have to worry about a slippery wet floor under you. There is plenty of room in the changing room too. No more squishing into a small room with your kids where nobody can move.

They have cubbies to put your things too!

The play area is pretty sweet too!

Big Blue Swim School is the only swim-lesson provider that exclusively hires and trains full-time teachers. They also earn benefits. Something you will notice with other swim schools in my experience is that they have high turnover and you often times don't get the same instructor. You don't see that at Big Blue Swim School.

Now, let me talk about the lessons. They have an amazing system. You get to choose a lesson time that works so all your kids can have lessons at the same time. Let me repeat that — lessons at the same time. This means families don't have to make multiple trips to the pool just because siblings were unable to find a time where they could both swim. You also can log into your account from any device and track your child's progress, move their lesson times, schedule FREE make-up lessons, add additional lessons, and update personal information in just a few easy clicks.

Let's discuss the water conditions. I know a local park district who keeps the water freezing (they share the pool with the high school is why). Now, I never signed up my kids there for that reason. You won't find that at Big Blue. Instead, they keep their water at 90 degrees. They also have asaline system and ultra-violet filtration. This provide a state-of-the-art defense against waterborne illnesses and harsh chemicals. No red eyes or dry itchy skin from being in the pool!

It pays to sign up now! Big Blue is offering six swim lessons for $60 when you sign up for weekly lessons – a discount of more than 50% on standard prices.

I was impressed by their facilities, their staff, and how they run their business. If you have a Big Blue Swim School in your area, I highly recommend you take a free trial lesson to see how you like it too!

Both of my boys are self taught, but I would have loved for them to attend a school like this so they could learn actual swim strokes.

So cool, what a neat place to learn to swim! If my kids were smaller I’d check and see if there was one nearby.

  3. I like that they have individual changing rooms. I’ve seen places with little or no privacy and these are much more appealing.

Swimming lessons would make a wonderful gift idea. My kids took lessons during the Spring a few years ago and it was really crowded. Plus $60 for 6 lessons is an excellent price!!!

I want to get my son involved with a class like this. We have a pool and next summer I want him swimming without aides!

Swimming is fun and a great form of cardio. I swim regularly at our local Y. My kids also learned swimming at a pretty early age. This school sounds like it’s a great resource for the community.

My kids have had swimming lessons for years and we feel they are super important as well. I have mini panic attacks though as they are not great swimmers.

I signed my daughter up for swim lessons when she was younger because my husband doesn’t know how to swim and it was important to him. Big Blue sounds like a great swim school.

We have a swimming pool and one of the first things we did when we bought this house is to sign the kids up for swim lessons. Nothing like this though…impressive!

We did swim lessons last year and it was an outdoor pool. After having a very mild summer there were days the water was just freezing. This sounds much nicer.

I wish they offered Big Blue where I live. This sounds phenomenal! I’ve been trying to teach my 4 and 6 year-olds to swim on and off for about 2 years to no avail. I was also on swim team and totally agree that swimming is a necessary life skill. It’s super frustrating that my kids haven’t picked it up yet because I really don’t have a place to take them consistently. Thanks for sharing this awesome location!

Swimming is a very important life skill to learn! This place sounds like a fabulous to take lessons! I love that they keep the water warm!

  13. I am a huge believer in teaching kids to swim. Growing up in the south, we have always had a swimming pool, and I learned at a very early age to swim. We have always had a pool at our own home, and I taught my kids as soon as they could walk!

I think it is so important to teach our kids how to swim. The Big Blue Swim School sounds like a great place. I love that they do not charge a registration fee for swim lessons.

What a great program. So important to get kids started young so they’re prepared to be around water.

I think my children were fish in their past lives. Haha. They take to the water naturally and they learned to swim all by themselves. I will see if there are any Big Blue Swim School in our area and will definitely recommend it to parents who want their kids to learn to swim.

The Big Blue swim school looks like a nice and professional place for kids to be initiated into swimming. I love the fact that the place looks impeccable and safety is given importance.

We love swimming too and I would love for my kids to learn different stroke but they don’t want to take lessons. I grew up in a coastal area so swimming was a big part of my childhood.

I love this! I think it is SO, so important to help kids learn to swim. It is SO important for safety and it’s fun and a great form of exercise too!
