LG Volt and Boost Mobile

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Sprint. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

LG Volt

Are you looking for a lightweight smartphone that has all the bells and whistles?  The LG Volt is your answer.  It is available for $179.99 (plus tax), runs the latest Android operating system, Android™ 4.4 KitKat, is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm ® Snapdragon ™ processor, and boasts a strong enough battery for up to 24 hours of talk time.  The smartphone’s 4.7-inch IPS display delivers sharp, vivid colors, making streaming videos, browsing the web and interacting with favorite apps a cinch and enjoyable. I found it easier than a lot of the phones on the market.  With its 8-megapixel rear-facing and 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras, consumers can capture cherished moments and then quickly and easily share them with family and friends.  The LG Volt comes pre-loaded with a number of new apps (can I tell you how much I love not having to download all of these):

  • Next Radio: You  can tune into their favorite local FM radio stations with Next Radio and get song and artist information to share online, or purchase straight from your phone.   I love this app.  I can’t tell you how many times Bill and I argue over who sings a song.  This app may have helped me win a few bets.  🙂
  • QuickRemote: Turn your LG Volt into a universal TV remote easily with QuickRemote, putting your multi-room, home entertainment system right at your fingertips.  This app is amazing too.  We can never find the remote in the living room (or the basement for that matter).
  • QuickMemo™: You can create and share personalized memos by taking screen captures and adding handwritten drawings or messages – like looking up directions on the map application, jotting down a handwritten note on the map for the date and time of a dinner date and sending it to a friend or family member.  I haven’t used this one a ton yet, but I love everything you can do with it.
  • QSlide Function:  You can multitask by layering up to two windows over the main screen, adjusting for size and transparency – such as using the Richnote feature simultaneously with the calendar or calculator
  • EasyHome: Users can easily access their favorite features, such as camera, contacts, dial, voicemail, weather and more from the homescreen, perfect for first-time smartphone owners.  (I helped my mom with this.  She likes everything where she can find it.)
  • Guest Mode: This feature can personalize a user experience for yourself or a guest, controlling which apps and capabilities are available depending on which are made accessible.  Love this for the kids!

I know some of you like the Key Technical Specs, so here you go:

Did you know that Sprint recently upgraded cell towers and replaced equipment at cell sites throughout the Chicago metro area so residents can enjoy faster speeds and better call quality than before with 4G LTE and HD voice (high definition voice) contributing to a better overall customer experience?  They also have the added bonus of running on Sprint Spark, and LTE service uniquely built for data that delivers peak and speeds of 50-60 Mbps. This technology is designed to improve the performance of video and online gaming applications!  Whether it’s for individuals, couples or families in Chicago, Sprint is determined to deliver the best value in wireless.

Did you also know that Boost Mobile is part of the Sprint Prepaid Group?  It operating on the Nationwide Sprint 4G LTE Network reaching more than 250 million people.  Boost Mobile redefines value for wireless consumers with more data for less and no long-term contracts. Its award-winning customer service has been recognized more than eight times.

Best of all, the LG Volt can be paired with Boost Mobile’s Data Boost Plans.  For a limited time, the Data Boost Plans are available to new and existing customers and provide an affordable way for consumers to match their specific data needs. At $35 per month, Boost Mobile provides one of the lowest prices for an unlimited talk, text and high-speed data prepaid plan among  major carriers.  The new Data Boost Plans cost five dollars less per month than MUS and provides twice as much high-speed data.

I love these price points.  My kids and my parents don’t need to be on a phone plan.  That being said, they do need a cell phone.  This allows an affordable option for both of them.

I’ve trying out both things (the LG Volt and the Boost Mobile’s Data Boost Plan).  The Lg Volt worked great.  It was easy to use, took great pictures, and had an incredible battery life.  The phone plan worked great too.  It was just as good as my regular Sprint phone service, so I can only recommend that too.

What specs do you like best about this phone?  What do you think of these data plans?

  1. I have been a long-time user of the iphone, but my brother adores his android. I do think these data plan price points are good. I too am still waiting for better battery life on any phone!

  2. I honestly gave up on LG after my Rumor phone turned out to be total junk. I had it replaced twice and regretted having the stupid thing everyday lol. I’m glad to see LG has better phone reviews now because the LG tv in my kitchen has been going strong for like 10yrs.

  3. I love LG products so I’m sure this phone is just as good as the rest of their line. I never tried Boost Mobile but I know a lot of people around here have the service.

  4. I want this phone and plan indeed. This sounds amazing and I will have to check if we have Spirit in our area. Last I heard we didn’t. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I always prefer Android. LG Volt sounds like a great phone as it has great features & looks stylish as well for a reasonable price. I am going to check this out.

  6. The app “QuickRemote” sounds pretty cool! I haven’t heard of this phone, and I just bought the new iPhone 6…ah well, I didn’t even look outside my apple tunnel vision. 🙂

  7. These are great plans, I love that there are so many more available options for cell phones out there these days. It seems that many homes no longer have landlines. Having a reasonably priced cell plan really makes a difference for sure. Thanks for sharing this plan with us!
