Maytag Washer Error Codes
I have a front loader Maytag washing machine, and we recently started getting an error with it. It wasn't finishing the load, and I had a huge soppy mess on my hands. I'm writing this post for both you my readers and myself, so if this happens again, I don't have to spend time researching it. I'll just know I wrote a post about it. LOL
The new Maytag washers have easy error codes to look up when you have an issue:
Error Code L
If an “L” appears, it means that the washing machine isn't locking properly. This is normally caused by one of two issues: a faulty lid locking switch or a faulty lock solenoid sensor.
Error Code U
When an error code “U” appears upon the display, it means you have an unbalanced wash load or a load that is too heavy to circulate properly. This error can normally be addressed by opening the washing machine's lid and rearranging the machine's contents. Once the load is evenly balanced, the error code should disappear and the machine should continue the wash load as normal.
F21 or F02
A “F21” or “F02” error code means you have a slow draining cycle which is normally caused by a clogged or kinked drain hose. The first thing to do is to check the drain hose on the back of your washer to ensure that it is not clogged or bent. Once the drain hose has been unblocked, the error code should disappear and the machine drain properly. However, if you have a high efficiency washing machine and the error code continues to appear, make sure you are using the correct detergent. Traditional detergents may produce too many suds which can block the machine's drain hose and lead to slower draining cycles.
Hope these error codes can help somebody else out. I have to run downstairs and see if we fixed our problem! (we are getting the F02 error here!)
