Some days I love my job. There are other days my kids love my job. Today is a day we both what I do. At the Chicago Toy & Game Fair, I was able to meet some amazing entrepreneurs. One of the companies I fell in love with that day was Mel Chemistry. I actually went and talked to them for quite a while. I loved them so much I went and found Bill and the kids (who were going through the Toy & Game Fair at their own pace) and brought them to their both, so they could see the wonderfulness of Mel Chemistry.

The first thing you will notice if you sign up for a Mel Chemistry subscription is that you get real supplies. Their sets aren't cheap plastic crap. They are real chemistry products you'd use in a laboratory (2 (aff) years of chemistry in high school and a year on college here!). Also, in your starter kit, you get everything and I mean everything you need. There is no need to run out and have to buy extras supplies (which is what I've encountered with any other kit on the market.)

Seriously, everything you need. The subscription starts with this starter kit and 2 (aff) chemistry sets. My picture up above is the starter kit plus one months worth of experiments (Each month you get 3 (aff) chemistry sets) Everything is reusable except the single use plastic cups.

Each chemistry set comes with 1-3 (aff) experiments. They can take varying length in time to do, but they too come with everything you need.

This also includes gloves!

They even have an app you can use to follow allow with your experiment. The app allows you to see molecules as 3D models, discover the structure of the compounds in a chemistry set, scn the MEL codes on chemical containers, and scan the MEL codes on experiment instructions.

Let me add that Bill had a little fun with the VR glasses also included. (To be used with the app). Besides crystal lattices, you will be able to observe discrete molecules.

We had so much fun as a family working together. I loved that they included enough reagents in the pack so you can do the experiments more than once. This comes in handy with multiple kids. For me, that alone makes it worth the monthly cost! Here are the kids doing their first experiment:

I love this set. I love this company. I can only recommend getting your kids a MEL Chemistry subscription. I'm signing up for one for my kids as soon as I finish this post. That's how much we loved it. It's a great way to spend family time together!

What are your thoughts about MEL Chemistry? Is this something your kids would love? (I can see this working well for homeschoolers too!)
