As many of you know, Madison just turned 13. For us, January is a time for New Years resolutions and another year older. She's now old enough that I have to impart some of my wisdom to her. Sometimes we have to go over these lessons several times, but I know I am not alone. That is why I created a short list of things moms should tell their daughter to help with their skincare. This is the time of year to take these lessons and turn them into quality time with your daughter!

  1. Wash your face. It doesn't matter your age, you need to wash your face at least once a day. This can be a rough argument with a teen, but you need to remove dirt, oil, and dead skin!

Clean & Clear Acne Triple Clear Bubble Foam Cleanser cleanses and fights breakouts in 3 (aff) ways: removes bad pore clogging oil, treats breakouts. while soothing skin, helps prevent future breakouts

  2. Don't pop your pimples. I know, it is tempting. I am even guilty of doing it. However, stop! You can leave scars on your face, get an infection, etc from doing this!
  3. Moisturize. Water is an essential part of healthy skin.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum instantly absorbs to quench skin and deliver higher hydration levels for fully hydrated skin that glows day after day

  4. Don't forget your lips! Your lips also need to be hydrated.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine plumps lips making them look smoother & more supple.

  5. Find great products that help your skin and save you time. For example, the Positively Radiant® 60 Second In-Shower Facial is a quick facial you can do in the shower 1-2 (aff) times a week to give dull, tired-looking skin a boost. You are already in the shower, so this just take a few seconds more!

Through the end of March, Target is offering some can't miss in-store and Cartwheel promotions on your favorite skincare essentials from Neutrogena, Aveeno and Clean & Clear that will not only make you and your daughter's skin look great, but will save you money at the same time! Don’t forget to Download Cartwheel, the rewarding way to save at Target! The promotions include:

  • In-store: Neutrogena – Buy 3 (aff) Neutrogena products (skincare only), get $5 Target gift card
  • Cartwheel: Aveeno – 5% off
  • Cartwheel: Clean & Clear – 5% off

Great looking skin for a great price – what more could you want? Did I forgot any skincare tips? Let me know what you tell your kids!

My oldest is 12.5 and she is going through the phases where her skin is challenging. My wife and I have tried to start giving her the tools to be able to stay on top of this as well! Never easy!

My grandson is turning 13 in a few months and one of the stocking stuffers I got for him at Christmas was a skin-care set for guys. I’m so thankful that my mom taught me the importance of skin care. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to bed without washing my face and moisturizing. Moms are great like that!

  3. Good advice! I love lip gloss and am never with\out it. The Lip shine looks like a product I would like!

I have been using Clean and Clear since I was a teenager. It always worked really well for me!

  5. Heidi Dee

So much yes! As an esthetician, nearly all of the teens I saw would refuse to wash their faces or would constantly pop pimples- it drove me crazy!!!

  6. Paula Schuck

It is so important to wash your face, even if it doesn’t look or feel dirty. You gotta keep it squeaky clean.

We have always loved Clean & Clear products- they work great and are so affordable. This is such a sweet post. Thanks for sharing your skincare tips.

  8. Dawn McAlexander

I too am guilty of popping pimples. I didn’t know that it would cause an infection. I am going to stop that now.

I have only boys in my house but I think the advice is the same for boys. Right now we’re just trying to teach her a little one to take a shower more than once a week LOL. Once he gets a little older I need to explain to him washing face and taking care of his skin. I will definitely keep this in mind when he gets there.

Washing your face is so important, and it can be so tempting to skip it when you’re in a rush. This is all great advice for taking care of your skin.

Oh I love Clean & Clear for my own face. I want to try that Bubble Foam Acne wash. It sounds nice. My teenager is terrible about washing her face and it drives me crazy, lol.

My oldest is 12 years old and we have entered this phase. I recall adolescence not being kind to my skin. I want to make sure my son is prepared.

  16. Ali

Great advice! I have to admit I do neglect my lips. I’m afraid I’m not going to be very good at sharing a skin care routine with my girls when they get old enough.
