The Guardians(Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket) must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.
Treats
You have to have fun treats when watchingGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. For our backyard movie night, we chose an easy snack: Galaxy Cake Balls!
Galaxy Cake Balls
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C funfetti cake mix
- 1/2 C unsalted sweet cream butter softened
- 1/4 C sugar
- 1/2 C flour
- 1/2 TBSP vanilla
- 1/2 C Halloween confetti sprinkles
- 2 Bags of Ghiradelli white melting chocolate
- 1 Cookie sheet fitted with wax or parchment paper
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, add the cake mix, sugar, flour and vanilla. Cut the butter into cubes and add into the same bowl. Add the halloween sprinkles and mix until combined
- Using a small ice cream scooper, scoop some dough and using your hands, roll into balls.
- Using a double boiler, melt the white chocolate
- Dip the dough ball into the chocolate
- Using a fork, completely coat the ball into the chocolate and place onto the cookie sheet
- Sprinkle some sprinkles onto the tops of the balls and place into the fridge for 15 minutes
Movie Set Up
We used aPortable pocket projectorand Tailgater speaker. We connected these to our I-Pad Pro where we had downloaded Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Fan Items
There is definitely some fun merchandise that goes with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. 
We currently are in love with these Geeki Tikis Mugs. They are so cool and just as fun for us adults to use as they are for the kids! We have also been playing with the Guardians of the Galaxy Dancing Groot RC. We love that it dancing to whatever music is near it!
Movie Time
Now, you can use your projector pretty much anywhere. We have used it on white privacy fence, in a garage on a white sheet, and for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we used a garage door.

I have an ION Tailgater and it’s a fantastic unit. We’ve never had a movie outdoors here but I have seen a couple over the years.

Those cake pops are great for movie nights like this! We did a backyard movie with the kids three times and they loved it. They invited some friends over too. Next time we set up a backyard movie night, I will make sure I make some cake balls too.
I wanted to do this project last year but we never found the time. It seems easy enough. I’m going to try to get it done this fall.
If we had a display for the movie we would totally do this. I would even invite the neighbors and everything.

I love everything about this! I love the tiki cups and your pro home theatre set up and I had no idea there were no bake cake balls! How easy to prepare and they look great too.
I have always wanted to do an outdoor movie. Kind of like the drive in but with a better environment. Maybe I’ll add the stuff needed to do one to my Christmas list.

We love having backyard movie nights! My stepson’s birthday is coming up, and he loves Guardians of the Galaxy – these adorable Galaxy cake balls will be the perfect addition to his party!
Those galaxy balls look like so much fun! My kids love Guardians of the Galaxy. Baby Groot is their favorite.
