Review: Through Irish Eyes

Through Irish Eyes was a book I wanted to review just due to my husband’s heritiage. Also, history can somewhat sugarcoat what the past was like, and this book does no such thing. Instead, this book shows how the other side lived. Irish Eyes has a beautifully curated collection of archival photographs along with detailed captions and literary quotes. You get to see both the beautiful landscape and also the urban poverty that was common at that time. Granted, this is a way of life that no longer exists, but I am a firm believer that we must not forget. You get an insiders look into the Irish people and their struggles through these photographs.

The book was both sad and eye opening. My husband (who normally doesn’t pick up a book all too often) spent over an hour reading this book last night (while I was getting ready to write this review). He really liked it too.

If you want a glimpse of history, get a copy of Through Irish Eyes.
