These were my kids over the weekend. They managed to catch 14 fish between the two of them while we were on a 4 day camping trip. Now, I’ve got two sick kids in less than a day since we’ve been home and the opportunity to work with ScriptSave® WellRx could not have come at a better time.
This was literally how I spent my morning. I’ve got one with the flu and one with a cold. It’s amazing how fast a family can go down for the count. Price-shopping for medication can be a time-consuming and draining process, and I don’t have time for it, especially today. The thought of calling around all the local pharmacies to ask what they charge is my worst nightmare.
The ScriptSave® WellRx website and mobile app have a fast, easy, free price-check tool that is perfect when you have sick kids! The price-check tool returns specific prices for all the pharmacies in a given zip code. A few clicks and I’ve got an answer from all my local pharmacies on one screen.
Best of all, the ScriptSave WellRx card/app is free to download, requires no credit card details to be entered, and has no membership fee! There is also no way to pay more than you would have done without the program, so it’s worth a try. Even if you have insurance, insurance coverage does not necessarily mean low-cost prescription meds.
The ScriptSave WellRx program can work really well for insured people with high out-of-pocket costs or if you have insurance like me who keep NOT covering drugs by changing what tier they are. Your insurance co-pays can also be more than just using ScriptSave WellRx. You can always ask your pharmacist (like I do at my local Oak Lawn, IL Walgreens) to check for you. (You can only take one discount though!). You can save up to 80%, so it is definitely worth trying. I also love the “Medicine Chest Pricing” that allows a patient to enter the details of multiple prescriptions at the same time, and then click the “Price-check” button to see EITHER, the one single pharmacy that offers the lowest ‘one-stop price’ OR the specific combination of pharmacies that will provide the lowest individual price for each single prescription.
LOVE IT!
Register for a card or download the ScriptSave WellRx app today and start saving money on your prescriptions! Be sure to use invite code: Ramblings
I can’t wait till my family is back to this:
Have you used ScriptSave WellRx before? Do you want to save money on your prescriptions too?
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of ScriptSave® WellRx.
We have great health insurance, so our scripts are pretty cheap. I feel bad for people who have to pay through the nose for them.
Thanks for reading about the ScriptSave WellRx program, Robin – glad to hear that your insurance has you covered! That said, at the risk of taking just a few minutes of your time, you might like to just double-check your current out-of-pocket costs against the prices that ScriptSave has negotiated at the local pharmacies in your zip code (…what’s that saying? “15 minutes could save you…” …but for us it’s probably less than 5 mins, and you can do it directly from the special URL in this blog post – http://www.wellrx.com/ramblings).
If you didn’t see last week’s NBC Nightly News exposé with Lester Holt, they did a great job of letting patients know that paying with insurance is not always the lowest-priced option. This is, in part, sometimes due to gag-clauses that insurance companies place on pharmacists that prevent the pharmacy from voluntarily telling you if they have a better rate for your prescription). We also wrote a piece about this ourselves a little earlier in the year.

My daughter-in-law is a pharmacist and she is my go-to when it comes to getting prescriptions filled. Thankfully, we have really good insurance. I love this idea and the mobile app would really come in handy. Hope your boys are feeling much better!
Thanks for reading about the ScriptSave WellRx program, Alli – glad to hear that your insurance has you covered…and with a pharmacist in the family, that’s a VALUABLE resource!
That said, you might find it interesting to ask your daughter-in-law about last week’s NBC Nightly News exposé with Lester Holt. They did a great job of letting patients know that paying with insurance is not always the lowest-priced option. This is, in part, due to gag-clauses that insurance companies can place on pharmacists. In effect, what it can mean is that the pharmacy is contractually prohibited from voluntarily telling you if they have a better rate for your prescription.

We have health insurance, so thankfully prescriptions aren’t too expensive. I know they can be though! I’m glad there are programs like this out there.
Thanks for reading about the ScriptSave WellRx program, Amber – glad to hear that your insurance has you covered! This is, in part, due to gag-clauses that insurance companies can place on pharmacists. In effect, what it can mean is that the pharmacy is contractually prohibited from voluntarily telling you if they have a better rate for your prescription. It sounds crazy, but many patients just don’t realize that prescription is not like regular “front-of-store” pricing. There’s not just one single price for a given medication in a give store. In fact, each prescription has SEVERAL prices and the one you get might be very different from the price that the person before or after you gets. This is why you never see a price-tag and why the pharmacist can’t simple give you a quote without asking lots of questions and entering info on a computer.

Prescriptions can be hard to come by at times. Especially those who live on a tight budget. Thank you for sharing this. Good ideas.
Thanks for reading about the ScriptSave WellRx program, Anita.

(…and don’t forget, as was uncovered by last week’s NBC Nightly News exposé with Lester Holt, paying with insurance is by no means always cheaper than simply paying cash for your prescription. You can read more about that at the link below…as well as watching that NBC News feature

I’ve never heard of ScriptSave® WellRx but then again my health insurance plan offers Rx coverage. It’s so important for families to have Rx coverage as you never know when someone will get sick and need a prescription filled and no one wants to pay full price for medications.

Wow, that’s so handy! We have great insurance, but ours also keeps changing which they cover, so this would be super helpful!

We are losing our health care at the end of the month because my husband was laid off from his job. Looking at healthcare costs is overwhelming, and then to think that prescriptions are so expensive. I’ll have to look into this.

I’ve discovered something like these and it’s been a life saver. My son’s adhd meds are now only $300 for 3 months supply instead of $750. It’s still very expensive, but important.
Thanks for the positive feedback, Cheryl.

We had an insurance change and now my $6 prescription is $40. I will give these guys a try and see if I can get it lowered.
Thanks for reading the blog post, Jen.
We hear that same comment (about changes in insurance leading to spikes in Rx costs) so many times.

I like seeing the word free when it comes to medicine and such. It all can get so expensive especially with multiple kids.
LoL, Kita – the word “Free” does tend to grab the attention of folks 🙂

Thanks for reading the blog post, Amanda.

This is awesome. I love that it provides options on price points. I will have to check out the ScriptSave WellRx program app. That will be a big help especially during this cold and flu season.
Thanks for reading, Dogvills!
If you’ve already clicked over to the ScriptSave WellRx website, you may have noticed that our prescription savings card also works for many pet medications.
That’s right. Many of the prescriptions that vets write for pets are actually for the same medication that would treat similar conditions in humans (…although, when prescribed to pets, the dosages are usually far lower).
That being the case, if you have the vet write the prescription for the “Human Equivalent” you can then take that script to a regular pharmacy and use your ScriptSave WellRx card to save.
There’s more info at this link… https://www.wellrx.com/discount-pet-care
This sounds like a great tool. I have good insurance but some pharmacies may charge less than my deductible for certain prescriptions. I’ll check this out!
Is this only for prescriptions? My mom has to take a shingles shot and has to pay over $200, does it check for those too?
Apologies for not seeing your question until it was too late, Tiffany 🙁
Here’s hoping that your mom managed to get sorted with her shingles shot. If she needs it again this coming year, of if there are other vaccinations required in your family, then yes, you can generally use your ScriptSave WellRx card for them.
If it’s a medication (incl. vaccines), being picked up or administered at the pharmacy, and if you’re paying out-of-pocket, always show the ScriptSave WellRx card to the pharmacist and ask, “Please will you price-check that medication/vaccine using the processing details on this card?”
