It may surprise you to know that I don’t have much worldly experience. That is why when I recently got the opportunity to take a SeaDog Cruise, I was all over it. Best of all, I got to take it with some of my best blogger friends (which also made it extra fun due to all the laughing we did). In fact, exploring the city on Seadog cruises made the whole experience unforgettable.
That is what our boat looked like. This is our tour guide:
His name was Jake. Like Jake from State Farm. (One of us may have asked him what he was wearing, and he may have responded Khakis, and they’re hideous. I won’t admit if that really happened.) He was really nice (and nice looking too!). He was very knowledgeable about Chicago, and he totally engaged the entire boat with his banter as we enjoyed our Seadog cruises adventure.
For the first 30 minutes of the cruise, we went slowly along the lake so we could mingle, catch up with friends, and take pictures. We then got a short speedboat demonstration. After that, we parked by the lake and enjoyed the spectacular fireworks display. Overall, Seadog cruises are great for both sightseeing and entertainment.
Seadog offers four exciting ways to see and experience Chicago from the water:
- Lakefront Speedboat Tour: This 30-minute cruise along the shoreline offers a descriptive tour of Chicago’s famous skyline, while playing your favorite music.
- Extreme Thrill Ride: This cruise is perfect for the daredevil in you! This 30-minute ride features splashdown stops, 180-degree turns, slalom runs, and more.
- River and Lake Architectural Tour: Enjoy historic views of Chicago’s famous landmarks and neighborhoods during this 75-minute cruise on both Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. If you’re seeking fun in Chicago, Seadog cruises offer a variety of options.
- Lakefront Fireworks Cruise: Enjoy front-row seats to the spectacular fireworks display aboard our Lakefront Fireworks Cruise! Cruise along Lake Michigan with an exciting speedboat ride paired with an informative tour of the Chicago skyline, then end the evening with a dazzling fireworks show and top-40 hits playing in the background! The open-air vessel allows for panoramic views, providing a perfect view. The Seadog Fireworks Cruise is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, running from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

I’m scared of the idea of being on the water (and used to love go boating as a kid), I’d love to go on a cruise someday. However, my husband refuses to take a cruise with me (he hates the idea of being on water, too) – le sigh. ~lol~
Looks like fun! I remember taking a field trip to Chicago when I was in 8th grade and taking a boat tour and how cool it was! I’d love to try it again with my kids!
It sounds like you had alot of fun!
