#SeeMoreSights In Chicago At The Taste Of Chicago

I still consider myself a tourist here in Chicago. Having moved here 2000, we don’t spend hardly anytime downtown (my husband hates driving there!), so I have seen very little. That’s why I jumped at the chance to get to go to the Taste Of Chicago, get the kids vision checked, and enjoy downtown for the day. Granted, I didn’t plan on the almost 100 degrees temperature and walking around for 4 hours. However, a good time was had by all.

Plus, Transitions Optical is a sponsor of the Sight Seeing Giveaway. You upload your photo to enter the Sight of the Day Photo Contest for your shot at winning the Ultimate Sightseeing Dream Vacation and other impressive prizes. The more photos you upload, the more chances to win! Plus, the Transitions Healthy Sight for Life Fund™ donates $.25 to Optometry Giving Sight for every photo uploaded. As you can see, I got many sights at Taste I can use (and yes, I have already turned in a couple to the giveaway! I especially like the one where Will looks like he’s about to get squished by the Bean).

Did you know that at least 670 million people around the world are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to the eye examination and glasses they need? That’s a pretty scary number. With the family history of blindness here, we take that seriously. My kids have been seeing the eye doctor since before they were three years old.

Also, make sure that you take the eye promise:

“Eye” promise to take care of my eyes and do everything I can to protect them and keep them healthy by:

  • visiting the eye doctor regularly for a comprehensive exam
  • wearing my glasses, if I require them
  • protecting my eyes from the sun with UV-blocking eyewear or hats
  • encouraging my family and friends to remember to take care of their eyes

I think that is all something we can do! Can you imagine missing any of those sights above in my slideshow? I couldn’t! That is why eye health is so important. Please remember to take of your familys’ eye health!

I received compensation to participate in a SocialMoms and Transitions Optical blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own. To read more posts on this topic, click here.
