Seventh Generation Giveaway!

This giveaway is now over. The winner is Deborah Wellenstein. Congrats!

Are you doing spring cleaning around your house? What are you using to clean this year?  When doing your cleaning, why not toss the toxic cleaning supplies, too?

Leading the “responsible cleaning” charge for the past twenty years, Seventh Generation has tapped into the disinfecting power of the herb thyme, to introduce an EPA registered line of disinfecting sprays and wipes that kill germs naturally! The new line of botanical disinfectant cleaners includes a multi-surface cleaning spray, bathroom cleaning spray and wipes.  The disinfectants contain thymol, a component of the herb thyme, and can be used on hard surfaces including counter tops, plastic cutting boards, highchair trays as well as children’s toys. Best of all, they kill over 99.99 percent of germs naturally.

With having two little kids, this is all important to me.  Also, being allergic to a lot of the chemicals traditional cleaners use, I appreciate products like seventh generation.  Since I enjoyed the Disinfecting Cleaning Kit I got, I’ve arranged for one of my lucky readers to also get one.  Included in it is:

  • disinfecting multi-surface cleaner
  • bathroom cleaner
  • wipes
  • copy of The Conscious Kitchen book
  • cleaning caddy made from recycled plastic
  • two rolls of 100% recycled, unbleached paper towels

    1. The best thing I have done for the environment was plant a garden, hang out my clothes line and am walking the kids to school. So excited it's spring.

    2. I try to keep my family away from chemicals much as I possibly can by using "green" products. The best thing I have done for the environment was freecycling things my family and I didn't need or want instead of letting them compile in a landfill.

    3. I'm keeping my family safe(r) from hazardous chemicals by making many of my own cleaners from much less toxic (and less expensive) things like vinegar, lemon juice (from my own lemon tree) and baking soda.

The best thing I've done for the environment this year is to add more storage capacity to my rainwater harvesting system! I can now store up to 3400 gallons! And, if I get a break between storms and use it on my garden, I can capture more with the next storm!

    4. This year I've been using alternative transportation to get to work instead of driving. I take the bus during the cold weather and have been riding my bike to work since it's gotten nicer out.

    5. Although it doesn't keep my family safe from pervasive chemicals, I've lessened our exposure by buying natural and organic products as often as I can.

    8. I’ve been buying more all natural cleaners now. I read the labels and decide carefully what to buy so my loved ones will be safe from the harmful effect of the chemicals 😉 .
