I am hoping to start getting some estimates on redoing the attic. I did a post today regarding the software I was using to help me figure out what I wanted to over at Lisa Reviews, and Julie wants to see what I have already done. Even though it is still a work in progress, this is what we have come up with:
I am hoping you can read the room sizes. I will happily take any suggestion anybody has. We are going to use part of the long hallway for one the bedroom's closets too. Its not showing on there because I don't know whose room is going to get it.

That looks great Lisa! That bathroom in the middle of the two bedrooms should be a "jack & jill" bathroom that has doors from both rooms into it. Like the Brady's had!
Well, we live in Upstate NY, a climate similar to yours. We are doing home renovations, too. Raising the walls and roof is going to really make the cost "skyrocket." Can you expand in any other direction?
I think building a new addition is less expensive (and less intrusive) than raising the walls and roof.
The shell for the house we can't do ourselves. But most of the inside work will be done by us and friends. My hubby is an electrical engineer so we'll definitely be doing all of the electric ourselves. 🙂 My house was built in the 20's.

I always thought that was cool…LOL!
I'm not sure if Bill will go for that 🙂 At this point, we need to see if we can even afford doing this.
The attic, huh? Do you live in a warm or cold climate? Is your roof insulated?
Chicago, so a pretty cold climate right now. We are going to have to raise the walls and the roof to do this addition.

It actually costs more to go out than it does to go up from the research we've done. Since our roof is only 3 years old, they can just use that.
Wow! Here in NY, we always build out instead of up. How old is your house, anyway? Going to do any work yourself?

Oh, that sounds like it's going to be super awesome. Good luck!
Looks good! Might be a good idea to widen the laundry space a little, though. One can't have enough space for laundry! LOL. Nice blog, BTW. 🙂
good luck on the redecorating! i love the layout of your house and how organised and space efficient the rooms are.
So I guess that means you found the software, eh? Did you catch my tweet about it or did someone else tell you?
I always love attic remodels – there is something so cool about creating rooms where there used to only be attic.
Mark most recent attic remodel was in this really huge house and he made them a super neat school room – it was awesome!
Marisa sent me the link first, but I still am thankful for the response. 🙂
I just have get around to calling for estimates now. 🙂
I like how that attic looks from the design.
