Like most of you, I feel guilty when I take out a little time for myself. I definitely don't like spending large amounts of money on myself. That being said, if you follow me on Facebook, you will know that I've had some medical testing and stuff come up. I'm tired all the time and really, I just need a break. (Don't worry too much – once I go for my follow-up visit, I will be blogging about it. I am just waiting to find out how we are treating what's going on.) That is why I was super happy to try out Spa Space at 161 North Canal Street, Chicago, IL.

I don't have a ton of experience at spas. However, the first thing I felt when I entered here was a sense of calm. They were so welcoming and definitely helped me step outside of what is going on in my life right now. The spa service I got to have was microdermabrasion. Let me start of by showing you a picture of me before I left. This is no makeup.

Now, I've had a ton of questions since I've had it done. First, it does take off layers of skin. I think she said it takes about 6 off. The second most question I've been asked is if it hurts. Absolutely not! Instead, it is a totally annoying sensation. It never hurt. They can also turn the machine down if you find it too irritating. I did not need them to do that. She actually tried it first on my hand, so I knew what to expect. I felt totally comfortable, since she looked at my face and told me exactly what my issues are (super dry skin, breakouts, etc). She gave me a few product ideas too. The only way I can describe what it feels like is that it totally feels like getting your face sandblasted, but seriously, it doesn't hurt. The only other thing I can compare it to is when you go to the dentist and they clean your teeth for you. You can feel the brush on your teeth just like you can feel this on your face.

Here is picture #2 (aff). This is immediately after I was done. My face was slightly red, but that went away within a couple of hours. Honestly, by the time I got home (aff), it was pretty much gone.

Let me add that I totally loved that I got to wear a spa robe. It's the little things in life that make my happy. LOL I immediately noticed that my face was super soft (and I hate to compare it to a baby's behind, but man, it was (and is) totally soft). It evened out my skin tone too.

This next picture I took this morning. Again, no makeup.

The softness and evening of skin tone is still there. I would totally get a microdermabrasion done again!
