All I want for Christmas is a LG OLED TV

Bill and I are always looking at new TVs.  We love to see what’s on the market, and we love to see all the new products out there.  That is why I was incredibly excited to attend a LG demo here in Chicago for their new OLED TVs.  Now, I know my first question was – what’s OLED?  OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode (say that ten times fast!) which describes the material that creates the unique light source in these next-generation TVs.

Now, why do you want one of these amazing TVs?  OLED TV is a major breakthrough in display technology that offers stunning picture quality, colors that are more accurate than ever before, and more vibrant images that really pop. For those seeking the highest level of contrast and color performance, whether it’s for watching Monday Night Football or your favorite sitcom, no other TV can compete with the unprecedented contrast and stunning color of LG’s OLED TV

You can see that the on screen images pop.  (Photo taken with my iphone 6 at the demo.  The photos I’m using in this post are not stock images — they are what I saw with my own 2 eyes!)  I also loved that they showed the Packers for this portion of the demo.  (For those who don’t know, even though I live in Chicago, I am originally from Green Bay, WI.  Yes, I am still a Packer fan.  Yes, my house gets very interesting during football season.)

I know I was wondering how this compares to a regular LED tvs.  IMG_0060

The middle TV here is the OLED.  Could you tell?  I know I could.  I was literally amazed by the difference.

Now, by eliminating the needs for a backlight, OLED offers an incomparable picture quality and design potential to conventional LCD(LED) TVs.  You can literally see the difference.

I’m not the only one who likes these tvs!  LG OLED TV has been the winner of EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association) Award for 3 consecutive years!  LG OLED TV was also voted as the King of HDTV in 2014 HDTV Shooutout, a renowned HDTV competition event hosted by Value Electronics in Scarsdale, New York.  LG OLED TV was described as ‘The Best.Picture.Ever’ by David Katzmaier, a star reviewer for TV at CNET.

We also got to check out the 65” 4K OLED TV (EC9700 model) as well!  This model has not hit the market yet and I was able to get an exclusive preview of this model without having to go to a major consumer electronics tradeshow!  It was amazing.  I want this TV.  I must have this TV.

The visuals from this TV were literally breathtaking.  It is also a “smart” tv, so it has all the features that I love on it without having to hook up 47 other devices.  I also loved how thin it is!

It’s amazing how you can get all that goodness in such a thin package!  It literally is about 4 credit cards stacked thick!

LG was the first to introduce OLED TVs in the United States and is the unrivaled leader in delivering this technology. With a quantum jump in OLED technology, LG has can finally offer this state-of-the-art TV at a much more available price to its customers  In 2014-2015, LG is broadening its OLED assortment with FOUR new series and FOUR OLED TVs overall, with 55-, 65- and 77-inch class sizes.  What size TV would you like your living room (or basement or man cave)?

  1. Wow! I had no idea there was even such a thing as OLED! We just got a TV and I have no idea what all the special stuff is but we definitely need to upgrade now! lol! Oh my goodness!

  2. Our living room TV is almost 6 years old, and my husband is dying for a new one. I usually don’t see a difference between the screens of various TVs, but I can definitely see a different in the OLED TV above! Now I’m ready to replace ours too!!

  3. Uh-Oh, I guess my husband will be taking me to see this new technology soon as we are in the market for a new TV and he is all about the new technology!

  4. I am so lame. I have, not quite a tube TV, but one of the first flat screens. And it is small. This TV is awesome. I’m going to go sit and cry and watch my sad tv now.

  5. I’m not much of a TV person, but I’ll have to admit that these are nice TVs. Would be perfect for watching some of my favorite TV shows, such as The Walking Dead or Revenge. 🙂

  6. I love the picture quality for sure but with my 5 kids I’m afraid of it falling over and breaking. Is there something to secure these? I do love my flatscreens though, last one I had got wet so it ended shortly 🙁 That BBQ picture is amazing.
