Welcome Back Wisconsin 14

Since the Wisconsin protests aren't making the nation news, I have found that a lot of people don't know what is going on in Wisconsin. They don't know why the 14 Democratic senators came here to Illinois. This video is an interview with Jon Erpenbach telling us what the Wisconsin 14 were doing while in Illinois, and why they came here.

Somebody told me that they need to get this message out more than You Tube. Well, I'd love for somebody to tell me how. I can blog about it. However, mainstream media has missed the boat on this one. They really have. Could it be that they are run by corporations that *gasp* benefit from policies that Gov. Walker wants to put into play?

At some point in the video, you hear about the inane ways the Republican senators were trying to stick it to the Democrat 14. However, the best one isn't talked about in the video. It was issued last night:

From: Sen.Fitzgerald
Sent: Monday, March 14, 2011 3 (aff):52 PM

Subject: Senate Democrat voting privileges in standing committees

Dear Members,

With the return of the Senate Democrats this weekend, questions have arisen regarding Democrat members’ participation in Senate standing committee public hearings and executive sessions.

Please note that all 14 Democrat senators are still in contempt of the Senate. Therefore, when taking roll call votes on amendments and bills during executive sessions, Senate Democrats’ votes will not be reflected in the Records of Committee Proceedings or the Senate Journal. They are free to attend hearings, listen to testimony, debate legislation, introduce amendments, and cast votes to signal their support/opposition, but those votes will not count, and will not be recorded.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact my office.

Thank you,

Scott Fitzgerald
Senate Majority Leader
13th Senate District

Yes, you read that correctly. It doesn't matter that they are back — WE AREN'T GOING TO RECORD YOUR VOTES ANYMORE. Can you say 5 year old tantrum? Seriously.

Do we live in America anymore? Is there really a Democracy? I am really starting to wonder (aff).

  1. Yes, this is a Democracy, with rules of order. The 5 year old tantrums were the fools who chose to take their ball and run away instead of playing by the rules. Now that they have returned they are being punished as the rules of the government state. Just like a good parent disciplines a child who doesn't play nice they are being disciplined for their inappropriate actions.

  2. So the Republicans breaking the Open Meetings law not once but twice is okay? Oh yeah, the national media forgot to report that.

  3. i would love a job where i can just up and disappear cuz i dont approve of what's going on and then show up when i feel like it and not expect there to be consequences…
