Wordless Wednesday: Fallen Branch

We woke up to this Friday morning:

That branch is about 25 feet up in the air hanging by who knows what. We ended up having to get somebody to come out immediately. We were afraid that it was going to take out my neighbors fence or our swingset.

The guy had to climb the tree to get it down. Can you see him?

This is the branch once they got it to the ground. The sucky thing is that this is an Ash tree and now, we are going to have to remove the whole thing.

That stinks! I’m glad no one or nothing was harmed.

  2. This reminds me of my HM. He is always up in trees around here. We have eight trees on our 1/3 of an acre and I think he has been up in each one of them for some reason or another. Great it didn’t cause damage. OH …and he / we cut down one earlier in this spring, so we would have had 9 in my comment. hahahaha

    Thanks for linking and hosting!

Yikes! I’m glad you were able to get someone out so fast.

      it wasn’t cheap. ROFL

  4. Sheri

    I’m glad you’re all okay!

Sorry you have to remove the whole thing. That stinks! At least it didn’t do any harm when that huge branch fell.

    1. Lisa

We have the emerald ash borer in it.

Wow, that was scary to see that huge branch hanging there. What caused it to fall, a storm? Thankfully you got it removed. I saw your comment above in reply to Diana, but I still don’t understand why you have to remove the whole tree.

    1. Lisa

Nothing. There wasn’t a storm or anything. It was really strange!

Glad nobody was hurt.. We have no trees and no shade. We also don’t have to worry about Bradford Pears falling on our vehicle like my BFF!

Last summer I had a squirrels nest in one of my trees that got a bit too heavy. There was a large branch and a next on my lawn one day. I didn’t see any injured squirrels.

  9. Jai

That’s too bad that the whole tree has to go. 🙁

  10. Donna

In the last year we have lost several trees, and tons of branches/limbs from storms. Our back yard leads into woods, and the storms have wreaked havoc lately. 🙁

  11. I’m sorry that you have lost your tree. We’ve got several branches down in our backyard, too, but we’re in a windy area being close to the coast. I’m glad that no one was hurt.

    Have a great week.

aw that does stink that you have to remove the whole thing now! Wonder how it came loose though, maybe a storm or some winds?

  13. Lolo

Our entire tree got uprooted in a storm tonight. It is laying on the neighbors house. 🙁

  14. Angela

That stinks. I have several, not quite that big, out in my yard that need to be cleared out this week.

    1. Lisa

No. The ash tree had the ash tree borer in it which caused the branch to fall. Since the entire tree is infected, we could either wait for another branch to fall or just take the entire tree out. Half the tree is over my neighbors house and property and we like them so we’d rather not have our tree take out their house. 🙂

Thankfully you’re all okay and it didn’t cause any damage to anyone or anything.

  16. Kathleen

Wow, that is a big branch. We recently had one fall on our roof and that was not fun.

  17. Toni

Yikes, that’s scary. That happened to us years ago during an ice storm. We had a big tree and it’s branch was hanging right where our front door was so we had to use the garage until the ice cleared and we could get someone out.

So sorry to hear you have to take down the whole tree. Glad the branch was taken care of before anyone or thing was hurt or damaged.
