World Vision’s Gift Catalog Giveaway!

There are so many people in need — both here in the US and throughout the world. With Christmas right around the corner, we all have somebody we don’t know what to get. They have everything and need for nothing. Well, a gift in their name is just what you need! The World Vision’s catalog has nearly 250 items ranging from $16 to $39,000 that help children and families in need. Included in the catalog this year are several items that foodies on everyone’s gift list might enjoy such as:

  • Two chickens that provide a daily supply of eggs (with plenty of protein and 13 essential vitamins and minerals) – $25
  • Feed a family in the US for a day with a Family Food Kit which includes nutritious meals like oatmeal, lentil soup or pasta, and a bean and rice casserole – $16
  • Ten fruit trees such as apple trees, orange trees, and mango trees provide the vitamins and nutrients growing kids need – $60
  • A dairy cow that can give as much as 5,000 gallons of milk in its lifetime – $500

In addition to the items above, World Vision offers several Maximum Impact Fund gifts that help answer specific, urgent needs of children and families that might otherwise go unmet. One such gift is the Fair-Trade Coffee Set which includes coffee from Ethiopia, Sumatra, and Costa Rica blended by OneCup.org delivered in a bag of African fabric hand-sewn by local women. It is accompanied by a hand-carved olivewood scoop made to benefit over 200 orphans of the Kamba tribe.

This is truly easy and great way to help others and unwrap a better tomorrow.  It is also a great way to introduce helping others to your children.  With the catalog, you can actually see that you are making a difference!  I loved that my kids wanted to send other kids toys.

Make sure to check out  “The True Spirit of Christmas Tour” Facebook page at www.facebook.com/truespiritofchristmas. For the third consecutive year, World Vision staff will be traveling across the world this December to see the impact that goats, sheep and other gifts have on families and children.  Here is what they do:

Since I think this is such a great cause, I have arranged for one lucky reader to win a Fair-Trade Coffee Set. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. I saw a show on cable TV where people donated money to help women get a small business started. I thought it was wonderful. But I think a goat is the best pick.

    Happy Thanksgiving

  2. I'd like to send a family in need Clean Water and Hope for Sexually Exploited Girls

    thanks for the chance

  3. When I was financially able, I donated to World Vision in the names of family members–those who "have everything" at holiday time. I like to give chickens or a goat–either will provide a family with good nutrition for a long time.
