Monster Eye Doughnuts


Doughnut ingredients:

  • 1 C flour
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted sweet cream butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 C + 1 1/2 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Vanilla doughnut icing ingredients:

  • 4 C powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp clear corn syrup
  • 1/2 C whole milk
  • 1 tsp clear vanilla extract
  • Red and Black gel food coloring
  • 2 disposable piping bags

Decorating ingredients:

  • 1 bag of Orange candy melts
  • 1 bag of Neon Green candy melts


Directions :

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degree's and spray a doughnut baking pan with pam baking spray
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, butter, and vanilla extract
  4. Combine the wet ingredients in with the dry ingredients and mix until well combined
  5. Spoon batter into doughnut pan and bake for 10 minutes
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 6 minutes before removing and placing the doughnuts onto a wire rack
  7. Repeat steps until all batter is used

Icing Directions:

  1. Using a standing mixer, combine the powdered sugar, corn syrup, milk and vanilla extract and mix on medium
  2. to high speed until smooth and thick
  3. Scoop about 1/4 C of the icing into 2 bowls
  4. Add a few drops of red to one bowl
  5. Add a few drops of black to the second bowl
  6. Scoop the two icing's into their own piping bag

Decorating directions:

  1. Dip the doughnuts into the white icing and place onto a wire rack that way excess icing can drip onto the cookie sheet below
  2. Place a candy melt onto the center of the doughnuts
  3. Allow doughnuts to dry for 20 minutes
  4. Using the red piping bag and pipe the veins onto the doughnuts
  5. Using the black piping bag, pipe a pupil onto the center of the candy melt
  6. Allow doughnuts to continue to dry for another 30 minutes before enjoying!
