Continued from Blogworld Epic Adventures: Colossal Late Night Escapades
The second day of the BlogWorld Expo started relatively uneventful. I headed to the conference in the afternoon as I eagerly awaited my meeting with Pete from Izea. I eagerly anticipated the opportunity to bridge the gap between virtual interactions and face-to-face connections. Other events were on my agenda, too, including immersing myself in the trade show experience by checking out all the booths and ensuring I caught Mark Cuban’s keynote address. Pete’s British roots only added to his charismatic appeal. This complemented his already captivating demeanor with an English lilt. Unintentionally, Pete had managed to amass a following of fans, and what’s more, they were equally excited about connecting with him.
While walking through the vibrant and diverse BlogWorld Expo booths, a particular setup immediately grabbed my attention—Southwest Airlines had a prominent presence. As a blogger, I had already reviewed my Southwest flight on my blog right after I got to Vegas. I shared my feedback with them in person too. They were handing out inflatable airplane souvenirs to sweeten the interaction, and I had a particular recipient in mind: Madison. Graciously expressing my positive flight experience, I uncovered an unexpected bonus—they were hosting a contest to reward those who engaged with their blog. Eager to participate, I promptly left a thoughtful comment on their platform.
Later that afternoon, as I was strolling through the trade show portion of Blogworld, a call came in—announcing that I had won the contest! The spoils of my victory came in the form of a complimentary round-trip ticket, which was valid until December 2008. Moreover, I was free to select any destination serviced by Southwest Airlines. Needless to say, I was shocked because I never win!
