VeggieTales movies combine silly humor, catchy songs, and heartfelt lessons. These elements resonate with kids and adults alike. From laugh-out-loud moments that keep little viewers engaged to meaningful messages about kindness, courage, forgiveness, and faith, these films have a way of sticking with you long after the credits roll. Some are perfect for family movie night, while others work well as gentle introductions to big life lessons wrapped in colorful animation and talking vegetables. In this list of the best VeggieTales movies you’ll love, we’re highlighting fan favorites that deliver entertainment, nostalgia, and positive takeaways. These make them easy picks whether you’re watching with toddlers, tweens, or simply reliving a favorite from your own childhood.

The Penniless Princess – God’s Little Girl

In this VeggieTales twist on the classic children’s book A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Larry the Cucumber takes on the role of Captain Crewe, sharing a powerful lesson about self-worth with his daughter, Sarah. Even when he can no longer be physically present, his love and guidance continue to shape her understanding of who she truly is.

At first, sweet Sarah seems to have everything a little girl could want. When her world suddenly changes and she falls from riches to rags, she must learn that her value is not defined by possessions or status. Instead, it is defined by the kindness, courage, and strength in her heart.

The Penniless Princess – God’s Little Girl truly delivers. Fans of the VeggieTales series will appreciate its warm storytelling and meaningful message. It reminds us that who you are on the inside matters most. In a world that often feels overwhelming and noisy, this reminder resonates with kids and adults alike. My kids and I genuinely enjoyed this DVD, and it’s an easy recommendation for families looking for an uplifting, faith-centered movie to watch together.

VeggieTales: Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men

VeggieTales: Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men

I can’t say enough about how much Will loves VeggieTales, and honestly, I’m right there with him. These are the kind of wholesome, feel-good stories that parents actually enjoy watching with their kids. We even managed to get my nephew hooked, which says a lot. The songs don’t hurt either; they’re ridiculously catchy and tend to stick in your head long after the DVD is over.

That’s why we were so excited to watch VeggieTales: Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men. One of my favorite things about VeggieTales is how they take familiar stories and give them a clever, kid-friendly twist. In this Veggie-version of the classic Robin Hood tale, Larry the Cucumber stars as Robin Good, a kind-hearted hero. He travels the town of Bethlingham with his not-so-merry men, raising donations from the rich to help those in need.

Trouble starts when a greedy prince begins hoarding all the townspeople’s hams. With donations drying up, Robin’s friends lose faith in his plan and decide to rob the rich themselves. Feeling hurt and abandoned, Robin thinks things couldn’t get worse until he learns the prince has captured his friends. Now he must push past his own disappointment to rescue them and restore hope to the town.

This movie is a heartfelt story about faith, friendship, and doing the right thing even when it’s hard. Like the original tale, it feels timeless. Will loved it so much that he watched it at least five times on the very first day. I highly recommend this one for families; it’s entertaining, meaningful, and full of the charm VeggieTales does so well.

VeggieTales Live! Sing Yourself Silly

Veggie Tales Live! Sing Yourself Silly

My kids are big VeggieTales fans, and I’m just as happy to watch along with them. These DVDs don’t just keep their attention with humor and music—they also deliver positive lessons. Importantly, they do this in a way that feels natural and fun. The newest release VeggieTales Live! Sing Yourself Silly absolutely lives up to that standard.

This lively stage show features 18 of the most beloved VeggieTales songs performed live. Favorites include “His Cheeseburger,” “Love My Lips!,” and “The Hairbrush Song,” along with a few playful throwbacks from the ’80s that parents will recognize and enjoy too. The energy of the live performance adds an extra layer of excitement, making it feel more like a family event than just another DVD.

The fun doesn’t stop with the music. Bonus features include Larry’s Backstage Pass, which gives kids a behind-the-scenes look at the show. It also includes a VeggieTales trivia game, a discussion guide, and several silly sing-alongs that invite everyone to join in.

From start to finish, my kids laughed nonstop and kept telling me how “silly” it was in the best way possible. This DVD is a great pick for families looking for music, laughter, and wholesome entertainment all rolled into one.

‘Twas the Night Before Easter

'Twas the Night Before Easter

’Twas the Night Before Easter highlights the importance of helping others while gently exploring the true meaning of Easter. The DVD is packed with fun music, silly songs, playful interviews, and a backstage pass with Larry the Cucumber from the VeggieTales Live! tour. It also introduces a new character, Cassie Cassava, voiced by American Idol finalist Melinda Doolittle.

I’ve honestly watched this video more times than I can count because Will, my three-year-old, absolutely loves it. I enjoy it too because it presents the story in a fun, engaging way that keeps little ones interested. Holding a three-year-old’s attention isn’t easy, but VeggieTales does it exceptionally well. They blend entertainment with a meaningful message that parents can appreciate.

VeggieTales: It’s a Meaningful Life DVD

Have you ever caught yourself wondering, what if? It’s a question most of us have asked at one time or another, and VeggieTales: It’s a Meaningful Life builds an entire story around that idea.

Stewart (Larry the Cucumber) is on the verge of the biggest football game of his life, with a shot at fame, fortune, and the Salad Bowl. Then one bad play leaves him injured and ends those dreams for good. Years later, Stewart lives a quiet, happy life working at a toy train factory. He loves his family and friends, but he can’t help wondering how things might have turned out if that moment had gone differently. When a mysterious train conductor offers him the chance to go back and change the past, Stewart finally gets to see what the life he always imagined would really be like. What happens next helps him and the audience understand what truly matters.

This movie carries a meaningful message about contentment and gratitude. As an adult, it reminded me that if those “what if” moments actually came true, the things I value most today might disappear. This would not be for the better. I loved how the lesson was presented in a way kids could easily understand. Madison enjoyed it so much that she even brought the DVD to school to share with her friends.

If you’re a VeggieTales fan, this is a must-have addition to your collection.

From laugh-out-loud songs to heartfelt lessons, VeggieTales movies have a special way of bringing families together. Each story blends humor, music, and meaningful messages that kids can understand and adults can appreciate. This makes them perfect for family movie nights or quiet afternoons at home. Whether you’re revisiting old favorites or discovering new ones for the first time, these VeggieTales movies offer timeless reminders about kindness, faith, friendship, and being true to who you are. No matter your age, they’re the kind of feel-good films you’ll find yourself watching again and again and happily sharing with the next generation.
