So I Have Hashimotos and a Hernia!

I finally was able to meet with the surgeon yesterday. (If you haven’t been following, here’s Part 1 and Part 2)

The fluid filled “pocket” that I have is a hernia. This will require me to have surgery. From now on, I’m not allowed to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk until I have the surgery. I will also be out of commission for about a week after the surgery. My surgery is scheduled for Nov 4th. (I would have done it next week but I would have missed taking my kids trick or treating.)

I was also referred to an endocrinologist to treat the Hashimotos. I’ll be heading out for a thyroid ultrasound tomorrow.

My doctor has also restarted me on the iron.

We are slowly but surely getting down to figure this all out. She also thinks I have the beginnings of arthritis.

  1. Glad they figure out about the hernia so they would correct it. My mother just was told that she can’t lift anything to heavy b/c of her hernia. No fun!

  2. Oh no. Thyroid issues are no fun…it seems that the thyroid affects just about everything. I was diagnosed with a problem years ago, and they always mention Hashimotos. Sending love and best wishes your way!

  3. Wish I could reach out and give you a hug during this time. I will be thinking of you. Let us know how things are after your surgery when you are feeling up to it.
