So I Have Hashimotos and a Hernia!

I finally was able to meet with the surgeon yesterday. (If you haven’t been following, here’s Part 1 and Part 2)

The fluid filled “pocket” that I have is a hernia. This will require me to have surgery. From now on, I’m not allowed to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk until I have the surgery. I will also be out of commission for about a week after the surgery. My surgery is scheduled for Nov 4th. (I would have done it next week but I would have missed taking my kids trick or treating.)

I was also referred to an endocrinologist to treat the Hashimotos. I’ll be heading out for a thyroid ultrasound tomorrow.

My doctor has also restarted me on the iron.

We are slowly but surely getting down to figure this all out. She also thinks I have the beginnings of arthritis.

  1. Wish I could reach out and give you a hug during this time. I will be thinking of you. Let us know how things are after your surgery when you are feeling up to it.

  2. Oh no. Thyroid issues are no fun…it seems that the thyroid affects just about everything. I was diagnosed with a problem years ago, and they always mention Hashimotos. Sending love and best wishes your way!

  3. Glad they figure out about the hernia so they would correct it. My mother just was told that she can’t lift anything to heavy b/c of her hernia. No fun!
