Want to know what one of the hottest toys this Christmas is going to be? I can tell you — Skylanders Giants. My kids (and their friends for that matter) are HUGE Skylander Spyro’s Adventure fans. I may have even used getting more Skylanders as a bribe to my kids to get them to behave. That’s how much they are loved in my house.
Skylanders Giants introduce 16 new characters led by 8 Giant Skylanders (is your head spinning yet?). The Giant Skylanders are, well, bigger than the other characters (about twice the size), so you can’t miss them. 🙂 The Giants each have their own powers and abilities that match their size. There are 8 new classic sized characters with never-before-seen powers too. That isn’t it. (Aren’t you getting excited? I know I was when I found out about these new characters). There are the LightCore Skylanders too! These Skylanders glow when on or near the Portal Of Power – no batteries required (woohoo!). Also, fan favorites from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure return as Series 2 characters featuring an all new “wow pow” upgrade power as well as the choice of more than 1 upgrade path. Best of all . . . . wait for it . . . . . all of your favorite characters from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure are 100% compatible with Skylanders Giants. You won’t lose your stats or your customizations. Thank you Activision is all I can about that feature. There is nothing worse than having to start from scratch with a game like this. You literally have every mom rejoicing about that little feature. It also allows me to spend a little more on Skylanders since they aren’t going to become obsolete in a year.
Skylanders Giants is rated E10+. That being said, my 8 year old and 5 year old play this and love this. Both kids gave Skylanders Giants 2 thumbs up (does that make it 4 thumbs up). Mom here also give it an additional two thumbs up. Honestly, I swear Activision climbed into Madison’s head when they came up with the series of games, because this is exactly the style of game she loves to play. She isn’t killing a bunch of people. Instead, she likes to run round and explore and both Skylanders games allow her to do that.
Seriously, run out and get Skylanders Giants. You kids will love you forever for it!
