Chicago Game and Toy Fair Pass and Play A Round of Telestrations with the Inventor Giveaway!!!

Yeah, that title is quite the mouthful. However, how awesome is this giveaway? I am so jealous that I don’t get this opportunity, but instead, one of you will!

Telestrations is a twist on the classic “telephone game”. You all remember how that is played, right? One person says a sentence and it gets passed along the chain. By the end, the sentence is usually not what you started out with. That is exactly how this works. Everyone plays at the same time. Each player gets their own erasable sketch book, dry-erase marker and word card. A roll of the die determines each player’s secret starting word (example: doggie bag. You draw a dog and a bag.). The timer gets turned and everyone draws their word. After 60 seconds, everyone passes their book to the player on their left. Then each player takes a few seconds to guess what they see, write it down, and passes again. The timer is turned and everyone draws what they see. (This person draws a man holding a bag). This play continues until everyone’s sketch book passes by every player and returns back to its original owner, at which point it’s time to see what happened to each secret word. (The next person may think that the man with the doggie bag is a purse snatcher.) Points are scored if the last guess matches the secret word, and for favorite sketch and written guess in each book. Yes, this game is as fun as it sounds. We tried it here, and you will literally pee your pants laughing at some of the stuff that gets drawn and how messed up the original secret word gets. (The ages on this game is 12 and up. However, with some modifications, anybody who can read can play.)

So now that you are jumping up and down yelling that you want to play this, I’ve got the giveaway for you. One winner will win a pass to get into the fair on November 20th and at 2 p.m. (at the Telestrations booth) get to play against the inventor of this awesome game! The winner of the game will receive a supply of USAopoly board games just in time for holiday gifting! You will be playing for my blog (no pressure LOL). New Member Of The House

No, we didn’t adopt a cat, dog, or baby. Instead we ended up having to buy a new stove. Here’s our new baby:

2388268860 0665395771 m New Member Of The House I can honestly say that this is the best oven I have ever owned. We have been trying it out the last couple of days. My old stove didn’t have a digital anything on it, so we have had a little bit of learning curve. The first time I tried to set the timer, I actually turned the oven off. Then we couldn’t figure out why the pizzas weren’t cooking! LOL Seriously, I love it!  It also has a simmer burner and a poweburner (which allows you to get water to boil faster — I think its something like 12,000 BTUs)

I am hoping that this is last appliance we will have to buy for a while now. Last fall, we replaced the washer and dryer. 3 weeks ago, we have to replace the phones and the microwave. Now, its the stove. The only thing we still have left to replace is the water heater (Knocking on wood that that doesn’t go out now!)

Great Gadgets Part 6

Betamax

You don’t hear this brand name anymore, but in the 70′s, Betamax was synonymous with home video. Sony’s first video tape recorder cost $1,275 when it was introduced in 1976. A timer could set the machine to tape upcoming shows was sold separately. Sony’s Beta tapes ruled the $20 million per year video industry until several companies banded together and began to offer machines using the VHS format.
