Holiday Cleanup

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

How do you clean up after the holidays?  For us, it is a tad more interesting.  Madison’s birthday was yesterday (she turned 5!), so we always have the quick cleanup that needs to be done from the time we get back from visiting Wisconsin and her birthday party.  I usually get about a week if we are lucky.  Since we have the basement now, Bill let me keep up the Christmasy decorations, but we did pull down the Christmas tree.  I need as much room as we can get, and this is pretty much the only way I was going to get it.  I figure everybody will hang out downstairs for her party just like they did for Christmas Eve.  The sad thing is that we are the only one on the block who still has their outdoor lights up.  Now, we don’t leave them up till June or anything, but it seems that it is kinda odd that on 8th of January that everyone has packed up everything already.  Now, I’ve slacked this week, and I have to get all my cleaning done tomorrow with the kids underfoot.  This should be interesting.  My sister is arriving tomorrow, so its not quite the end of the world if she’s the only one who sees my non-clean house.

How do you clean up?  Do you have a set plan?  Do you just do a little bit each day?

For All The Eddie Vedder and Chicago Cubs Fans!

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

If you don’t know, the Chicago Cubs clinched the National League Central Division at home here in Chicago. This is more exciting for us here than staying in some las vegas hotels.

Normally, my husband could care less what I put on my blog. However, he did ask that I pass along this video by Eddie Vedder. The song is called “All The Way”. Keep your fingers crossed, because Chicago will go nuts if the Chicago Cubs win the World Series!

Ten Things I Learned While I Was At Pampers/P & G

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

1.  Use Head and Shoulders as a body wash.  It removes fungus, athlete’s foot, etc

2.  Their mission statement is Happy healthy baby development

3.  According to studies that Pampers has done, babies who sleep uninterrupted all night function better in the morning. Keep the moisture away from their behind and they won’t wake up at night! (well, except to feed and Pampers really can’t do anything for that).

4.  Pampers senstive wipes are softer than soap and water!

5.  They try to see the world through a babies’ eyes.  See picture below:

Yes, that bench is that big! It gives you a whole new perspective!

6. A baby walks more steps a day than a marathoner.

7. They have a “Discovery Center” where they have moms come in and test the diapers and prototypes. They get reimbursed for their time with gift certificates for local stores. They also have a daycare for the other children (who aren’t in diapers) of these moms.

8. The new Pampers Swaddlers have a pee line on them. :) There is actually a line on them that changes colors when babies do their thing in them.

9. Another goal of Pampers is to “make a tired mom smile”.

10. I want to drink the Pampers Kool Aid. These people truly believe in their product. We were a Pampers family before I went to this and this just cemented my diaper choice!

Flying Nowadays

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

If you read my travel blog, I outlined all the airlines and the baggage fees that they (the airlines) are now collecting.  I seriously swear it is getting to the point that if you have the wrong color bag, they are going to charge.  A lot of the airlines are also charging for blankets, pillows, soft drinks, water, and anything else you can think off.  In this last year, I have done a lot of flying, and it just floors me that you can run a business this way.

It is getting to the point that it will be cheaper to go the route of a getting a Private Jet Charter. No more of having to get to the airport 2 hours or more ahead of time to be told that your flight is delayed. No more having to worry about missing your connecting flights due to the airlines ineptness. If you want reliable service, streamlined, high safety standards, and no-surprise billing, you should definitely be looking at companies like New Flight Charters. They were founded in 2003, and they have an accident free history. Last year alone, they had 1,600 customers that were flown to 212 airports in 14 different countries!  Crews are FAA certified and every Captain is Airline Transport Pilot rated. You even get to pick what plane you want! In a world where the the airlines are nickel and diming you to death yet providing crappy service and missed connections, private charter jets may be the answer!

Blogging

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

I’ve been a bad, bad blogger.  I swear I have been trying to keep everything updated here, but I have been super busy.  Now that I have a few minutes, I will be doing a ton of posting across all five of my blogs but I may end up with five or six posts for today on this one!

Why do I keep up with this?  I love blogging.  I love being able to connect with people across the world.  I love having friends that I have  never met in person, but I know will go to the ends of the world for me.  I love that if I have a problem or an issue, and that another blogger can help.  I love that some of the hardships that I have blogged about have helped others.

Now, I do suggest getting your own domain if you ever want to do blogging for pay.  Now, if that isn’t in the cards for you, I highly recommend looking at some of the Free Blog services out there like Thoughts.com. Some things that I like about this particular service is that they allow you to decide for each post if you want it to be public, private, or only viewable by certain people. You are able to upload pictures, podcast, and videos. They even have their own community forums! I also love that they have free unlimited bandwidth. This way, if you get a lot of traffic you don’t have to worry about your site going down or getting charged for it!

If you want to get involved in this wonderful community of online blogs, what are you waiting for? Go get yourself a blog!
