I love books. I love to read. But I think many of us have different ways we choose the books we read. Some people like fiction or non fiction. Some people go by the synopsis on the back of the cover. I personally have no particular way of choosing what I read; if it sounds good or the cover grabs my attention, I will read it! Everything You Ever Wanted by Jillian Lauren grabbed my attention with the synopsis. I mean really, who doesn’t want to find out about a woman who was a college dropout, a drug addict, and a former member of a harem who now falls in love and wants a family??
This book grabbed my attention from the get go-a mother, just like myself, starting her day before her husband and child awaken. But this story is not like my own. This is not a woman who married and had babies and lived happily ever after. This story, this true story, is a woman’s struggle to get pregnant, a journey through adoption, and her struggle with a new child who has special needs. As I read this book, I found myself in her story. I could relate on so many levels despite never going through any of the trials she had. As a mother, I could relate to the anguish and despair of trying to calm the screaming child who could not settle down, or praying to God to help me make everything better. This book is an amazing one for any woman or mother. Jillian Lauren is a true example of what women and mothers go through and what we want for ourselves. In Everything You Ever Wanted, she proves that no matter how hard life gets, there is always a way to get through it.
