What healthy choices do you make?

If you know Bill and I in real life, you will know that we have been on a weight loss challenge. I lost 80 lbs. 2 years ago, and then my thyroid quit working last summer and I put on 35 lbs. I’ve been working with my doctor to lose that weight and then some. In May, Bill ruptured a disc in his neck. One of the things that his pain doctor told us was that he had to quit smoking and lose weight. Our doctor ran a bunch of tests, and we found out that he has really high cholesterol. (I didn’t blog about it before now, because he asked me not too.) Needless to say, we have made some pretty big life changes this summer to become more healthy.

We really luck out.  My local Walgreens is literally 2 blocks away.  They have everything we need to help us in our getting healthy journey, and best of all, we can walk there (and we do regularly).

I love that I can quickly run in and refill our vitamins (I love the Nature Maid Vitamelts Biotin):

I also can’t tell you how many times we just walk up there to get a bottle of water or two (or ten if we are talking this week since it is 100 degrees as I write this):

On top of having products that help us to stay healthy, Walgreens has a great #BalanceRewards program!  If you haven’t signed up yet, you are missing up.  Thanks to #CollectiveBias, I signed up as soon as this program launched.  Once you sign up, you will start earning points on thousands of items.  You can earn even more points when you purchase things in the ad!

Walgreens also fills my Armour prescription which keeps me healthy.  Without it, I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed most days!  When you fill your prescriptions, you get 500 points for each or 1,500 points for 90-day prescriptions.  You can set up  auto-refills online to earn points on a regular basis (as you can see, that’s what I do!).

Need school immunizations?  You can get those at your local Walgreens!  Those qualify for points too!

On top of products, you can earn points for healthy choices!  Balance Rewards for healthy choices helps keep you accountable and makes living a healthy life easy by setting health goals, tracking progress, and connecting your devices.

You can easily track with their Graph View, so many different things: weight, steps, blood pressure, etc.   This allows you to easily monitor your progress over time.  Best of all, you earn points for tracking all of these!

Walgreens has seriously made it so easy to make your life healthier and add a few extra dollars in your wallet!  You can redeem all the points you earn for cash:

10,000 points = $10
18,000 points = $20
30,000 points = $35
40,000 points = $50

Walgreens has made it easy to make your wellness a priority!  I’d love to know the healthy choices you make each day and if Walgreens helps you reach your health goals!

  1. We have a Walgreens right down the street to and it’s 24 hours! It’s beyond convenient and I think I find myself going there at least once a week. It’s great to see Walgreens promoting healthy choices and a healthy lifestyle.

  2. I never tried Walgreens out for prescription refills, but I like the perks I see here! We don’t normally take medicine, but if for some reason we do need another, I will have to check out Walgreens.

  3. I have begun using Walgreens mobile app more, including to be rewarded for healthy choices. I synced it with my Jawbone so it can track my steps and I can earn Balance Reward points!

  4. I really think a points system is the way to go – not only does it incentivise (not a real word according to spell check) people to keep shopping, but it’s a fantastic way to get great deals.

  5. Walgreens is pretty awesome with things like this, I have one right down the street from my house! Glad you and your husband are getting healthy!!

  6. What a great resource to have so close! We’re not quite as lucky. In fact I honestly don’t know where the closest Walgreens is but, thankfully I have other choices. Praying for your continued good health and for a quick turn around for your hubby. Quitting smoking often leads to weight gain initially but it’s such an important thing to do. Be well!

  7. I think it’s great that you and your husband are working so hard to be healthier. Having a Walgreens so nearby is definitely convenient and a big help.
