I just got home from the chiropractor (who I love to death and she fix me in!), and she gave me some great advice to follow tonight.
We started my visit with her telling me that I looked awesome. Like my OBGYN, she doesn’t feel I have another 50 lbs to lose either, and we talked about the weight charts and how off they can be to real life living. My chiropractor is a skinny mini and she doesn’t conform to the so called weight charts either. Her advice to me was to yes, watch my numbers and keep losing weight (since I still do have some to lose), but don’t make it my main focus. Getting too tied up in the numbers isn’t good for my health. If I go to the most strict chart, she said I’d be looking at an ideal weight of 110 lbs. Now, I was about that in high school. I’m realistic. There is no way I’d ever be able to get back to that weight. She also said that if I went to that weight, I’d look like I was starving myself. Instead, she said to pick something I was comfortable with. That means, instead of being so gung ho on the number I picked to get down to (which let me add is NOT 110 lbs), I should go for the weight I am comfortable in my skin in. That may be the weight I picked, it may not be. However, it should be the weight that I look good in be it 110, 120, 130, or 140. A low number on the scale is nice, but you want to be healthy too. I mean, who doesn’t want to be a size 0. However, I have never been a size 0 ever. Heck, I don’t even know if Madison (who is 8) would even fit in a size 0, and she’s a bean pole. Right now, my shorts are 16, so maybe when I get to an 8-10 or maybe a 12. The last time I went shopping I was still in 16 (in pants) at Lane Bryant, so I still have a ways to go. I just really want to be able to shop and not be in plus sizes. That’s my more immediate goal. To be honest, I’ve been in plus sizes so long that I don’t have a good feel for what regular sizes are anymore.
What does this all mean for me? Well, for now, I am going to keep my goal weight where it is and I have 48 more pounds to lose. However, I reserve the right to change that number the closer I get to it. 🙂 It feels great to go to people who haven’t seen me in a while and be told that I look great. I’ll even admit to enjoying that a bit. 🙂
As for my update, I lost 1.8 lbs this last week. We went camping, so I wasn’t able to eat every meal on Nutrisystem. However, I was able to watch my portion sizes and make healthy choices. I even had a bite of Will’s Smore. (I really wanted one. However, instead of eating a whole one myself, I just had a bite which satisfied my craving). Now, this week I won’t be able to attend my Zumba class (I tweaked my back a week or so ago playing soccer and that’s why I was at the chiropractor tonight. I had to get an adjustment, and she’s so cool that we talk about everything while she’s adjusting me) per my chiropractor, so hopefully I’ll still have a good weight loss week without that. I’ll be playing working out this week by ear and how my back feels.
How did you decide what you goal weight was to be? Do you have an ideal size you want to be?

I set my ultimate goal at twenty plus pounds above the high end of ideal for my height. nd I think I would feel AMAZING if I got there
That's so great that you're continuing to lose weight! You must be so proud!
You are doing fantastic!! It's been a kick following along with you on your journey!!
I agree with you on this. I would love to get back down to my high school weight. However, I wasn't healthy then. So, I would love to lose more weight or another pants size or two. I am somewhat happy with where I am right now though. I guess it's just what feels right.
My goal weight is higher than the chats say but is was where I was most comfortable…I may go lower once I see what it looks like on me…20 years later!
I agree with you. It's more about how you feel and look (to yourself) than the weight. I've seen people who have lost a lot of weight and look worse than they did before the weight loss.
My ideal weight range is 150-160. Before I had my 2 boys I was 125 which was wayyyy under weight for my body. I'm with you I may pick, choose and change my "goal" along the way. As long as I am healthy and happy the number on the scale doesn't define my happiness.
Sometimes the final number is haunting! You can do whatever you put your mind to!
i like how youre not so rigid as to stick to a certain number. you'll change it according to what you are comfortable with; after all, it is for YOU.
