Did you know that indoor air can be five times as polluted as the air outdoors, according to the EPA? With Madison’s health conditions, we are exceedingly vigilant in our house, and I’m about trying things to help us out with that.  That is why we recently got a Oreck ProShield Air Purifier.  It removes and destroys 98% of airborne particulates, including viruses, dust, pollen, bacteria, viruses, mold spores, fungi, pet dander, cigarette smoke, and odors in the home.  Being allergic to life itself, I appreciate all the filtering it does.

You can take it out of the box, plug it in, and it’s ready to go. You can adjust the fan to your preferred strength; we usually keep ours silent, so you barely notice it’s running. It’s so easy to use that you don’t need to read the directions (though it’s a good idea to skim them). The air purifier cleans and recirculates air in a 12’ x 18’ room twice an hour.

The Truman Cell filter is permanent, so you’ll never have to replace it—just rinse it clean, let it dry, and pop it back in. Plus, the permanent Helios Shield uses UV-A light to tackle odors and VOCs (volatile organic compounds). With a six-stage purification system, it destroys particles as small as 0.1 microns—that’s about one-thousandth the width of a human hair.

However, you’ll occasionally hear a crackling noise when a large particle gets caught in the system. It might startle you initially, but it’s a reassuring sign that it’s doing its job.

But does it really work? From what I can tell, yes. The easiest thing to test was if it was picking up dust. We used the TV screen as our test subject (as that seems to get covered weekly). We noticed a huge difference since using the purifier. There is also a deodorizer in it, so you room smells clean after running it.

    Air purifiers are excellent devices because they essentially eliminate Dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and dust mite feces and many other ailments that trigger allergies in people. For this reason alone I feel that everyone should have one in their house…for the health benefits alone.

    I have the Oreck Deluxe electric fabric shaver and I love it! It makes an old sweater look new again! Plus, after I spilled hair dye on my carpet I used it lightly on the pile before the stain settled in too deep and I can hardly even tell where the spot was now!

    Well I will definitely vouch for Oreck on this one!! We have a Purifier that's 3 years old and nothing has ever happened to it. The cell on it did break once, they replaced it in the store for FREE with no issues! It was a great experience and we will continue to buy from Oreck!

    Oh and I'd love to try a Halo Vacuum Cleaner… and I could use this purifier for our bedroom!

    My favorite product was the Oreck Tower Air Purifier, but now that they've added two new air purifiers – the Oreck ProShield and Oreck ProShield Plus – I'm not sure which is my favorite… but I know I could find a home for any one or all of them! 😀

    I want the Oreck One Touch House Cleaning System. Just push one button and it cleans the carpets, wood floors, toilets and washes the windows. Failing that (since it hasn't been invented yet) I like the Oreck Orbiter Ultra to polish and clean my wood floors.
