If you’re serious about the air quality in your home, Oreck Air Purifiers have probably crossed your radar. We put it to the test in our own home, and here’s what we found.

Why We Needed The Oreck Air Purifier

The EPA estimates that indoor air can be up to five times more polluted than outdoor air which is a fact that hits differently when someone in your household has health sensitivities. For us, that someone is Madison, which is exactly why we’re particular about what we breathe inside. When we came across the ProShield’s claim of removing and destroying up to 98% of airborne particles (dust, pollen, pet dander, bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and odors) we decided it was worth trying.

Getting Started

Setup couldn’t be simpler: unbox, plug in, done. Fan speed is easy to adjust, and we almost always leave ours on the quiet setting. It runs so unobtrusively that you genuinely forget it’s there. The unit is designed to clean and recirculate air in a 12-by-18-foot room twice per hour, which keeps air quality consistently maintained without any effort on your part.

What Sets The Oreck Air Purifier Apart

The standout feature is the Truman Cell permanent filter. No subscription filters, no recurring replacement costs – just rinse it, let it dry, and put it back. Paired with a permanent Helios Shield that uses UV-A light to tackle odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), the six-stage purification system captures particles as small as 0.1 microns. That’s remarkably fine filtration.

One thing worth mentioning: you may occasionally hear a faint crackling sound. It startled us at first, but it’s actually the unit actively capturing larger particles, which is a good sign, not a malfunction.

Real-World Results

We kept an informal but telling gauge on performance: our TV screen. It normally collects visible dust surprisingly fast. After running your air purifier consistently, the buildup slowed noticeably. Beyond dust, the room genuinely smells fresher – not in a masked, artificial way, but clean.

    Air purifiers are excellent devices because they essentially eliminate Dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and dust mite feces and many other ailments that trigger allergies in people. For this reason alone I feel that everyone should have one in their house…for the health benefits alone.

    I have the Oreck Deluxe electric fabric shaver and I love it! It makes an old sweater look new again! Plus, after I spilled hair dye on my carpet I used it lightly on the pile before the stain settled in too deep and I can hardly even tell where the spot was now!

    I would love to have a Oreck Halo Vacuum Cleaner. My daughter and I both have bad allergies and our vacuum is 20 years old….These give-aways are wonderful – today is my first day discovering them.

    Well I will definitely vouch for Oreck on this one!! We have a Purifier that's 3 years old and nothing has ever happened to it. The cell on it did break once, they replaced it in the store for FREE with no issues! It was a great experience and we will continue to buy from Oreck!

    Oh and I'd love to try a Halo Vacuum Cleaner… and I could use this purifier for our bedroom!

    My favorite product was the Oreck Tower Air Purifier, but now that they've added two new air purifiers – the Oreck ProShield and Oreck ProShield Plus – I'm not sure which is my favorite… but I know I could find a home for any one or all of them! 😀

    I want the Oreck One Touch House Cleaning System. Just push one button and it cleans the carpets, wood floors, toilets and washes the windows. Failing that (since it hasn't been invented yet) I like the Oreck Orbiter Ultra to polish and clean my wood floors.
