Please Don’t Steal My Pictures

If you aren't a blogger or a photographer, you may not know copyright law. I totally get that. However, there is right and there is wrong.

Now, would you use google images to find a cover picture on Facebook? Would you claim that picture to be yours?

I just had that happen. I had somebody steal a picture off this very blog and do just that. I caught it Friday afternoon and spent every day since then trying to get my picture removed.

The person who stole the picture was contacted and refused to answer to me. I had a friend who finally got through to her and she initially refused to take down the picture. Here's the deal though if you use somebody's picture without permission:

1. I can sue you. It doesn't matter if it is against the law, and you didn't know.
2. If you use it on FB, FB can take the picture down and can take down your page. They actually have a form to fill out for this exact thing.

It is against the law for you to use a picture whether you are a blogger or not if you don't have permission. A link back to me does not equal permission.

When you steal from me, I don't take it too kindly. However, if you ask, I, most likely, will let you use the picture! That being said — there are some changes coming to this blog. I'm adding some added protection here, so you will see some changes occurring. I'll be using a different watermark on my photos, you won't be able to right-click on photos anymore, etc.

What would you do if you found somebody stealing your stuff?
