Puzzlets is an app-enabled interactive gaming platform that fuses STEAM learning and game play to teach children new ways of thinking using the Play Tray and 22 unique programming tiles called Puzzlets! I have had Madison trying this out for the last couple of days! Not only did she set this up by herself (she's 11), she also taught her 8 year old brother too!

What you do is download compatible games on your personal device and the Play Tray syncs wirelessly (or can be connected via USB) to allow gameplay both on-screen and on the Play Tray using the Puzzlets! The first compatible game download included in each Puzzlets starter pack, Cork the Volcano, teaches children programming skills by allowing them to plan out code and guide characters through puzzling levels where timing is key. Using a strategic thought process, children place any of the Puzzlets on the Play Tray to plot a route and move characters through different levels to help save the island from an evil force. With the tap of a screen or click of a mouse, children have full control of when characters progress through the code they have laid out on the Play Tray.

Additional Puzzlets compatible games and tiles will be released across a number of STEAM topics. There are millions of possible Puzzlets combinations allow children to come up with their own unique solutions! I love that there is no right answer. Puzzlets keep parents involved by asking for a parental email address upon installing a Puzzlets compatible app. Parents receive email updates on their child’s progress in the game and tips to help their child work past a level when they seem to be stuck!
